I heard members having problems with 08s if the unit got blasted from a power washer.
Maybe water did get inside it.:excuseme:
Let it dry in the sun for awhile.

A couple of times after washing the bike my 09 dash started repeatedly coming on and going off all by itself while the ignition was switched off, i.e. it went through the normal start-up sequence then went blank then repeated that over and over. If the ignition is turned on while it's still doing that the bike starts and runs normally, but I did wonder whether it would flatten the battery if it was doing it for a long time when the bike wasn't in use. Both times it stopped by itself after a couple of minutes, presumably as it dried out.

The bike wasn't washed with a pressure washer BTW, only with a normal garden hose and as little water as necessary to get the dirt off, and trying to avoid all the electrical parts such as the dash.

The dash on my 06 510 went out after traveling in the rain across country. Unfortunately it never worked again. I read somewhere (probably SMJ) that you can disassemble it and put some dialectic grease on the sandwich connector inside. It didn't work for mine, though. I replaced it with a Trailtech.

MINE IS done- I spent a weekend in the rain on my bike and it began to fail and show nonsense. On monday I set it in the sun- off the bike, still moisture inside on view window- I then took it apart. It had about a teaspoon of water in it. I dried it out with a hairdryer. Reassembled with new sillicon adhesive-(there was some on the rubber seam). Put it back together (4 screws on bottom). Put it back on and Its not working right-
After a bunch of tests- it initiates after a pause- but displays "2.2" shows the initial screen- then goes blank. If I turn on the signals it works for that period of time- then goes blank- has internal short.

I am going to buy something new- maybe an ICO- since they are built for "abuse"- but trailtech's are looking nice for a cheap quick replacement- I am going to go with nothing for awhile- don't want to buy a "rebound" speedo....
