Now that we can order Husky special parts and accessories through the US dealers, any idea if there will there be any price listings? I was on Husky UK site looking at the riding gear prices to get an idea of what the stuff costs. The currency conversion made me do a double take. I realize the parts/gear isn't cheap, but I would be embarrassed to call up a dealer to price something and have to say I cant afford it.

My understanding is that pricing needs to come from a dealer, so if you are interested in something you might want to call...

I have no idea whether Husky items will be the same, but generally if I see something on a US web site for a given number of dollars I assume it will be anything up to that same number of pounds sterling if I buy it here (in the UK). Sometimes it's not quite that bad but the prices are usually significantly higher in the UK, e.g. iPod Touch 32GB, Amazon US - $369, Amazon UK - £263 (about $439 at the current rate).

When it's a US product the excuse for this is usually transport costs and import duty, the US is a larger market, the items have to be modified to meet European regulations, etc, etc, but sometimes it still happens for goods manufactured elsewhere in the world or even in the UK itself - you still buy them cheaper in the US than we can here! I guess they charge whatever the market will bear and we're all suckers here.

And don't even get me started on gas/petrol pricing! :banghead: Ours works out about $6.65 per US Gallon for unleaded if my calculation can be trusted. Of course, over 65% of it is tax so we can blame our government for that one.

Like I said, Husky items may be different but it may be worth checking out the prices through a dealer in the US as they may well be less than you'd think from converting UK prices (I certainly hope so!).

If you fine people are serious about getting items then you could call the Cafe Husky sponsor Motoxotica (707) 446-4282 ... or whatever dealer you normally work with. If you are only casually interested then keep in mind the dealers are quite busy and there are no mega-sales staff working the phones, usually 1 or 2 people that work long hours.

Dealers want to help, but need to be careful about what they order - because they need to sell what they order or they will loose $. If people call a dealer on the phone and say they will buy flip flops or a back pack - it would be good to follow through and buy those.

    To re-cap earlier conversations:
    1. Some items originated in the USA - Examples
    2. Some items originated in Italy - Examples
    3. There may be a few items from Italy in stock in the USA, the rest would need to come from Italy and could be a few weeks to get (might be much sooner) - but Husqvarna NA has worked hard to streamline that process as much as possible. There is also a slight chance that Italy is out of stock of an item, but there is no way to know until someone actually orders that item.
    4. Some items such as riding and casual wear that originated from Italy will be of the same, or even higher quality, but will cost less in the future.... I do not know when that will happen - maybe when the 2010 bikes come out. Depends on many things and it will almost certainly need to be phased in over time as things become available. As far as I can tell Husqvarna NA is working very very hard on making things like this happen. At the risk of stating the obvious, dealers would be much more likely to stock the riding gear in the future when the items cost less, which would alleviate sizing issues, because the gear could be tried on in the dealership in person.

I let Husqvarna NA know I have been getting lots of calls for jerseys. They tell me things are in the works for US made riding apparel. More info to come hopefully soon.
