Replacement Sprag Clutches for 1976 1977 360 Autos

The following information is for replacement of Sprag clutches on 360 Auto's. Whomever Peter may be .... great Information

Information as follows:
*REPLACEMENT SPRAG CLUTCHES (Freewheeling Device)*FOR THE 1976-77 360 AUTOMATIC
*
*After restoring my 1976*360 Automatic from a basket case,*I had the Sprag Clutch fail on the main crankshaft. It appears that these clutches are not longer available or very hard to come by*from most Husky Dealers. I have found that an equivalent part is*still manufactured by a company in Germany with the correct sizes to suit the 360 Auto (as I have a*360 I don't know if the same part*numbers are suitable*for the later 390cc and up Autos), but they make a lot of sizes so you should find one to suit from shaft diameter 14mm to 80mm.
*The*1976 & 77 model 360 Automatics*use five Sprag Clutches (free wheeling devices),*one on the main crankshaft and a further four in the automatic gearbox transmission which are real easy to change, but remember which direction the dogs in the clutches are facing before you remove them from the shafts,*so you get the gears to lock up in the right direction or you will have a gearbox of four neutrals and can't be pushed forwards.
For the crankshaft you must use the correct puller to remove the Main*Centrifugal*Clutch and Housing to access the clutch and*replace the Sprag Clutch, again note the direction of the dogs before removing and replacing the faulty Sprag Clutch.
THE SIZES AND*GMN*PART NUMBERS FOR THE*1976 & 77 AUTOMATIC ARE AS FOLLOWS;**

Crankshaft: 1 x*GMN (freewheel-clutch insert) part number FE433Z (SIZE *ID 25mm x*OD 33mm x 12mm wide).
*
************ "THE GEARBOX REQUIRES FOUR FREEWHEEL CLUTCH INSERTS".
*
Gearbox:*2 x GMN part number FE438Z (SIZE*ID 30mm x OD 38mm x 12mm wide).
************* 1 x GMN part number FE458Z (SIZE ID 50mm x OD 58mm*x 12mm wide).
**************1 x GMN part number FE478Z (SIZE ID 70mm x OD 78mm x 12mm wide).*
*
*The*Company that makes the Clutches is GMN in Germany and they have a web site that has all the sizes there if these are different to*the later model Automatics ( 390cc, 430cc, 500cc ).*
Your local Bearing Agent should be able to get them in for you fairly easily. The web site is *www.gmn.de/(ex)/e/**GMN-PAUL MULLER GMBH. If you enquire*they will readily let you know who your local importer is for your country.

Tuning of 250 CR 84

Cylinder: Smooth all edges between aluminum and steel liner. Note! Only smooth the aluminum. Do not change the port times in the liner.

Intake: Make sure the top of the port is according to figure 1, with a straight top, about 10 mm wide.

Transfer ports: Make the ports square according to figure 1. Make sure the top of the transfer ports are 49.5 mm from the top of the liner and that all ports are at the same height (lined up).

Remove material in the transfer ports as per figure 3.

Remember: Adjust the carburetor
Do not let the engine “ping”
Smooth the edges of the liner
Warranties do not apply. The result of the tuning is not guaranteed.
