Did a trip with CKPC. Originally the plan was to go to Upper Lake area because it was more centrally located for the people that were going but due to some last minute changes the 2 of us decided to go to the Sierras. CKPC knew of a place somewhere past Arnold CA up highway 4 that was picturesque so away we went. The weather was absolutely perfect - mid 60's and sunny. There was previously precipitation so the ground was perfect as well Staging area About 5 minutes into the ride smoke was noticed It was burning very slow, tried to put it out but it was too much for the boot stomping method, almost seemed like a peat moss fire in the ground. These coals were cold so it may have been smoldering for quite a while A bit farther and the bikes wanted their picture taken Then into a meadow where there was snow melting A bit farther there was an incredibly beautiful spot perfect for taking pics. It was a steep drop off with a river at the bottom, that water might be a little cold. Close up, those trees are maybe 30'/10 meter high Mr. TE510 aka CKPC After we loaded up we went into the town of Arnold to grab some food at an interesting little joint. Maybe CKPC can describe that.... THEN I scored a 'cup of joe' at a Starbucks. GREAT day. .
On a side note, trials tires were no fun in the snow... On a previous occasion they did 'ok' on ice, but not that snow.
Ooh! Nice photos, Coffee! Glad you guys had a good time. I probably could have gone myself, as Eric was way too busy to go, but never got a phone call so figured the ride was off. I've done a little bit of dualsporting out that way before and it really is a beautiful area. Glad you guys had a good time! WoodsChick (G.O.T.T.)
Coffee coming through the Aspens A great day, warm temps, no dust, empty trails and good company!! Thx
Leg is great! Or at least as great as it's ever going to get. The rest of me continues to be out of shape - hence the riding It was The Perfect Day! (I'm still not sure how to describe the burger joint)
As for the burger joint...Friends of mine nicknamed it "Jesus Burger" because there are several religious signs hung around the place. As for the staff? well I will say they have always been friendly when I've been there..It's just one of those places you need to stop at a couple times and just people watch, although I would suggest you do it without being noticed. hahahaha
Hmmm.... well I did put up this post, but there was not much notice http://www.cafehusky.com/forums/showpost.php?p=9109&postcount=35 You are correct the telephone works much better, I'll not make the same mistake twice.
Think "Creepy Burger" might be another good name. Some strange people, glad there was 2 of us. Someone showed up with a load of some kind strange "bikes" in the back of his pickup and asked us about re-valving suspensions. Snow bikes? They looked like they weighed maybe 45lbs each and had a tiny little shock on them. Not sure how they would get them up the slopes - maybe a snow cat with a sled behind it? Looked like they were too heavy for the chair lift.
Wow! That last shot is beautiful! I want that jersey!! Maybe we can make it up there this spring for some riding, CKPC. It sure looks nice. WoodsChick
