Here is my question. I have an 05 tc 450. it has kick start and e start. the e start is comming off. I got the plug and big clutch gasket. I know that there are gears that come out of the motor starter clutch etc my question is there any spacers etc that need to back in the motor. what is the difference internally between the kick start only tc and my bike which has both. can I just remove thes parts and bolt it back together and go. bike starts so easy would rather save the weight than have the button. any help would be appreciated.

IF your in a race and have 10 to 15 lbs of mud on your boots and your half bagged, the e-start is quite nice.... food for thought.... I have e-start and no kicker... someone must have added the kicker to your '05 as they did not come with one.... what a revolutionary idea at the time and it still works really really well...

JMO but the weight of the starter/battery is negligible... I've cut 20 lbs by hitting the gym real hard.

    more than one would think

the weight is more than you think. the battery is 4.5lbs. the starter motor, harness parts, starter clutch & one way clutch are at least 5 lbs. plus without that one way clucth on the crank the bike should rev faster because has less weight on the crank and be easier to kick start I hope. It is easy now but hope it gets better. add titanium shock spring from a yzf maybe a pound and tubliss system 1.5 per wheel. the grand total is 10.5 lost in static weight and 3 lbs of unsprung weight and it cost under $300. not bad. I am ever contemplating the ti footpegs from a yzf but the stock pegs look weak. I hit the gym and workout 5 days a week. just trying to make a fun bike more fun. Plus it is cool to tinker.

George didn't you get a TXC510 recently?I think we purchased from the same dealer that I'm done with, what happened to that bike or are you swapping back and forth between the 2?

    txc

Financial problems at the beginning of the year prohibited me from getting the txc ready. The other issue was the bike feels sooooo heavy to me. Much heavier than my 450. I know it isn't but the motor give the illusion of being heavier. It has a ton of engine brake etc.

No offense meant ...I am fully aware that the exact weight of the '05 TC starter and associated parts is exactly 11 lbs. Transworld and all the other magazines slammed this bike as a big tall slow heavy pig for that exact reason. What they failed to mention is the dependability of the motor....and the stability of the bike in general. I have over 250 hard race and ride hours on mine now...

However to each their own and I was just trying to make a point that if your racing and stall, the little red button is sometimes worth it's weight in gold... I've also thought about stripping the disc guards off and the uptite skidplate and kicker to shed weight... let me know how it feels when you have it done.... you might be able to convert me to your way of thinking...

A pro Circuit TI-4 Silencer and mid pipe also make one big difference on the low and mid range on this bike.

Post up pics if you do it!

Here is mine with the ProCircuit on it. I race Glen Helen SRA GP MX with it.

    no offense taken

I was looking at your bike for a while now. sweet ride. No offense taken. I race the ecea h/s series I will get some pics up soon. If my bike where strictly a motocross bike I would definitely get rid of the skid plate and disc guards but off road where rocks appear at the most unopportuned time I run the hyde skid plate. What does your bike weight if you don't mind me asking?

Those new batteries "Turn tech' or some such seem to be getting great results, they are very light c/w the stockers
