If we had a pic of the cannister behind the headlight it would help.

Owner's manual probably has some clue. If you don't have one you can download at above.

The plug into the engine needs a small bolt rather than a cap (that is if it's like a CA bike)

The cannister behind the headlight "might" be a vent for the gas tank. In the end you'll just want a tube that runs from the gas cap down in front of the rads and can be zip tied to the radiator somewhere about a foot off the ground or so.

Also, see if this thread helps. 08's but shouldn't be that different.

The little cannister behind the headlight has some vent tubes that run back to the carb and T off and go to the HUGE softball size cannister. Pull off all of the rubbish and plug the hole on the motor with a bolt. Well thats what I did to my 07 anyhoo. Happy trails.

You may want to consider the vent tubes from Uptite Racing (1 714 540-2920) or 7602 Racing (www.7602racing.com) to put on your bike to replace what you're describing.

thanks guys sorry i got a little snappy earlier. i did pull all that stuff off and plugged the intake hole (small rubber tube with a plug for now ) but will look into removing that nipple. i did rout all the carb vents down to below the swingarm pivot and zip tied them. jd jet kit installed and bike rips. much better . still backfiring and popping on deceleration mostly at low rpms but im looking into this right now ........thks again
