ok I blew the top end on my 08 cr last fall and sent it out to e gorr for the 144 treatment. I went with the more bottom and mid, pump gas set up. After popping the top end last fall I'm a bit paranoid about jetting at the moment. Right now it is running a 40 pilot, 440 main, clip in the middle. stock tmx carb. It still seems a bit lean and I haven't done a flat out rip yet as mentioned above ... a bit paranoid about popping it. anyway riding mostly quad track so far ... really digging the bottom end, makes the bike much easier to ride. I also noticed that I was pulling 6th without any problems which it would not do before. No clue about top end as I did not go there. might be able to put a smaller sprocket on the rear now. I really really really want to open it up and see what its got on top. Hopefully I can find a 450 main and maybe a 42 pilot this week. I changed out the springs front and back to lighter springs so that made the front end a bit better. my first impression is it is a worth while expense. need to get it into the techy stuff and get the suspension sorted this could be a really fun bike!!! In fact if I really did dig it I would grab an 09 or 10 and get the factory 144 kit ... if it did not have that dinky little gas tank .... wondering what it will do to my mpg running the bigger jets .... and wondering why I need to go up so much, it was 80 degrees today and the 440 main wasn't enough!!

gas has 10% ethanol in this area. It does seem high to me but I've been told by a few people that the ethanol can make things funky. though I run star tron in my gas also. the plug is a slightly white-ish gray. most people I have shown it too say it looks a bit lean. It has slowly been getting darker as I work my way up through bigger jets. what is a bit odd though is I'm getting a fair bit of spooge coming out of the rubber pipe/silencer joint and yesterday with the 440 main I got a 4 inch dribble down the silencer. Doesn't blow any real smoke out the pipe when running though. I'm a little parnoid about maybe an air leak somewhere ... how do you know if your crank seal is leaking??

I dont have hardly any spooge but plenty of smoke so thats a bit weird. I havent had any spooge since I lowered needle to number 2 setting. I ve been running semi synthetic approx 35 to 1.
Does it feel crisp and free revving ? I just know my bike with similar motor and carb was running rich with a much smaller main and pilot.. Even with our temps getting cooler.
Try riding it at different times of the day cooler and warmer to see if there is any difference in how it goes.
