WTF? Did I miss the release of these things and they're all sold out or what? I can't imagine that IMS is that busy developing and building products that they can just stop progress on an item that is clearly in demand.

    Anyone got an update?

I really wanted to post up something funny, or at least my attempt at funny.

    On a serious note...
One of the goals of this site will be up to get questions like this answered.

Lemme guess, it had something to do with my toilet avatar? At 13.6 litres the Kohler has what I want. It is a bit heavy, won't take a crash that well but it's glossy white finish will look great next to Motosportz white skid plate.

IMO the big tank from IMS thing isnt working.
Since '04 each year its been a LONG wait, and then we get a very limited choice, and too often they leak anyways.

Even Team Husky suffered at GNCC without tanks, and then with homemade things. Its just silly.

The '08 610 might never get a tank the way things are going.

    1) Husky needs to offer larger option tanks
    2) IMS needs to get on it much faster and no more of the Halls thing (no disrepect at all to Halls, but we have out grown that deal)
    3) Someone else needs to step up and make Husky tanks. Acerbis? Aqualine? Clark? Anyone have connections with a blow mold shop?

i know i know preaching to the choir....

When you only own dark underwear there's only one way to know if you've left a skid mark. :D

Those guys are right down the road from me. Nice people, nice shop. I offered them a way early 08 and they said no thanks and probably never. Uh, OK.

I had previously read older threads on TT where I had understood George from Uptite to be saying that he was working with IMS to get a tank for the '08s. More recently, I've read threads from others that had made inquiries to IMS, and IMS reportedly responded adamantly that they had no interest in developing a new tank for the EFI models. Confused by that apparent contradiction, I recently had a opportunity to clear this up.

I swung by Uptite last week and talked to George briefly about getting a TE610 and I raised the issue of the tank with him. Apparently, he is working on a system whereby the current IMS tank can be used with the EFI models. He briefly described what he's working on but, I don't want to step on his toes by giving a half-assed description of how he intends to make that possible. He left me with the impression that it's in the late stages of development, but no hints as to an ETA.

Have they looked at any options for us 250, 450, and 510 owners?

    Frankly, I didn't ask. Self centered I guess :p

Based on what he described, his solution may well be applicable to the entire line though. I'm not sure. He expressed concern over copycat designs, he might be awaiting patent approval or something, that's why I don't want to try to paraphrase what he described.

That was the first time I had meet/talked to George. I'm not a Husky owner...yet ;) Someone who knows him better might be able to pry more info from him. That or I wouldn't be surprised if he swing by Cafe Husky when he gets a chance, maybe he'll clarify things a bit.

Interesting info about Clark. I dont get why they feel that way, its to bad.

I too have been talking to George about his plans. And to IMS, and to Halls. And to Clark, and to Aqualine in Australia.

I want to race a TXC in the desert but i cant. Whats the point of making a US spec race bike and then not being able to race it because there isnt a tank?

Here in the southwest the number one problem with Husky is that there arent big tanks available. Its SO stupid. IMO it shows a east coast/euro bias or provincialism. Even the new tank that IMS IS coming out with for the TXC is too small for the southwest.

    Its a problem. :(

    That's all it takes?

Any regulations / standards to be met? Or does the 'competition only' disclaimer get around those issues?

I imagine the product liability insurance is pretty steep as well.

Mike, your right. If they are gonna make an offroad specific model fit it with an offroad tank, not an mx tank. The TXC has baja written all over it. But with the current tank it's the baja 50 and not the 500 or 1000.

I know this is a terribly shameless plug but I am no longer in need of a larger tank. I packed 1.5 gallons on my bike yesterday through nasty stuff and did not even know it was there. Worked great. Going to find one of those low flat gas cans and call it good.

SO so so true. I raced a modified TC510 last year in baja--basically a TXC without the estart. It was just awesome. AWESOME! Like cheating. Now with the new TXC and its better suspension, the button (i lost the podium when the TC510 air filter clogged, and i couldnt get it kickstarted, loosing an hour...) the 18 rear and the other improvements--the TXC510 is 'potentialy' the number one baja 1000 production bike made.

While we are on this subject--the fastest baja racer there is has been in talks about racing Husky in Baja.....wont happen this year, but behind the scenes the movers and shakers are scratching their chins.

Im putting together my 8th Baja 1000 race effort right now, and i dont know what bike to race. Its sad. TXC with a hand made tank? Pain in the butt. Tried that 2 years ago and they leaked.

All we need for new tanks is a $10k mold and a blow mold shop in TJ or Shanghai. If i had 100 orders i would do it. Hell if IMS doesnt step up and the '09 wont fit a '08 tank, i probably will. Its not the cost, its just i am slammed with my work stuff right now...but yeah i have looked into it big time, for 4 years now.

    Market is wide open...

Have you ridden the 08's in Baja? the older ones might in fact be better as the new ones border on twitchy. I LOVE them for the the stuff i ride but fast / loose the old slower frame might be better. Dunno.

Cafehusky is a web forum not a plastic manufacturer, not a lot of crossover there :p

Anyway Mr.Coffee is busy learning how to create subforums... right.
