I had the p/u kit plug and jumper in the 08 TE 250 for 1 ride. I only installed it. No tuning, just the factory map. The sparky was in. It's fuel light came on at 62 miles and it stalled a lot. Did not like how it ran untuned so I put the lambda back in for now. 62 miles seems pretty low. I do not know the miles to fuel light in stock form, but 62 is a lot less then my stock 510 getting 75 miles until fuel light. With the 250 getting a good tune with iBeat what kind of fuel range can I expect? What is the concensus on the best iBeat settings for the 08 TE 250. I know her dealer in Sacramento has the software but say they have never used it. If I had the settings in hand I am sure it would make the tuning experience much easier.
I think I figured over 50 mpg with the stock setup or over 75 mi. About 40mpg with pu and new CS of 14. Have that dealer call another dealer that can help them get up to speed on the iBeat. I think the TE 250 settings will be around 100.6 or so for FB1....the other two are supposed to be 100.0. Around 2 1/2 turns out on the screw. Pretty sure dealers were offered a course on the software. It looked fairly straight-forward. They should only need a little guidance.
A dealer that has the software (are we to assume a Husqvarna dealer?) and has never used it? How the heck do they set up any FI'ed bike? We have to reset the TPS on just about every EFI Husky by the break-in service if not out of the crate and after break-in. Scary As for settings, there is not an across the board figure. Typically anywhere from 105-130% works for us, but no where could I recommend the percentages for the 3 FB adjustments. Also, depending on your riding, if you're trying to sustain higher speeds on fire roads and open trails, you may consume more fuel with a 250 as opposed to the 510. If you're having to whack the throttle everytime to get up to speed on the 250 instead of just tickling the throttle on a 510, the 250 might actually get worse fuel mileage depending on the riding conditions.
I have spoke with 1 CA Husky dealer that says they don't have ibeat??? Another that says they have it but never used it. My guess is they just "sell" Husqvarna motorcycles and don't really give a F**K about them. That P****S me off so bad! F**K!
Any updates? You have talked to 2 California Husqvarna dealers - 1 does not have the ibeat, 1 does have the ibeat but has not used it? This thread is a stellar example of situation that could be improved.
I have since spoke with the dealer that claims to not have ibeat. They did say that they have the tools/software for KTM and Husaberg fi bikes but said they are not allowed by state law to change fi settings. W T F? Thank goodness for the service and experience of MotoXotica. They got the TE 250 running great. Leaving the O2 plug in with good results.
