    Hi Pat,
I have access to some pretty smart batteries. They will be over £100 but they are used by Dakar Rally teams and are half the size and weight of the Yuasa (which is over £100 now anyway). I'll let you know when they are here.

Check out these people. They offer 3 different ones and I just installed there smallest one on my '08 TE 450. I have not ridden the bike yet but it makes changing the air filter a breeze now. This thing is so small I am thinking of mounting it below the air filter! If you are not worried about weight the middle one would be good too and give you a little longer cranking power. There batteries are also charged by the bike which is a plus.

    Extremely interesting link!

I might just order one. My 2006 is starting to... get old :oldman:

It cranks over the 450 no problem but just don't know for how long on a trail ride. I hear there are people on ktmtalk using the 2.5 on 450's with no problems. When you hold the two in your hands you won't believe how much high weight you are losing. I ordered it on a Tuesday and got it on a Thursday, good stuff.

ebattonline is where I first learned of these. They were going to have the new version where the bike will re-charge the battery. The first ones you had to leave a wire off and charge it at home. A friend pre-ordered one from e-battery and gave up after several weeks. That is when he found out about turntech and got it in 3 days. Maybe e-battery has them now I am not sure. There was a post over on TT I think where a bunch of people were tired of waiting. I did not get to ride this past weekend to test it out.

Like I was trying to say ebattery never came through with the self bike charging one when I was trying to get one. Turntech has them in stock.

You could just throw that 2.5 in your pack for emergencies.

I have not got a full Sunday of riding it but I can tell you that today I stopped and started it about 15 times with the 2.5 battery and it works great. I figure I don't stall/start it that many times in a day so I am sold. I will report back though if that changes. My TE 450 does have a little issue that if it is on top dead center that I have to pull the compression lever in to move past it. It did this with the old battery and same way if I have to kick it. Next time I get bored and have the bike apart I swear this thing could fit down by the air box drain to move the (what little) weight even lower. How cool would that be. I could then put my lunch in there...Not sure if the wires would be long enough. Here are some pics (I think)

Notice the strap that used to hold the previous battery.

Side View, It also has a tube patch on the back side just to prevent any vibration rubbing it. If you look closely you can see that it just sits a little over the lip of the fender, that is tiny.

Looks like you could carry a spare tube around the battery and the OEM strap would keep it in. :)

I always use the manual-decomp to get the engine spinning to help it start.

Hey Pat, check this beauty out:

I put innertube around and under it to prevent vibration chaffing the Battery. I held it in with a piece of innertube fastened to a zip tie either side of the battery location. Didn't use the Yuasa bat' tray.

Need to change the battery wires to use that, right? Maybe cut off existing ends or add something?

Yes, cut and solder in new clips that come with the Super B. It weighs naff all. Looks a lovely neat fit with its tidy clips. Will get more photos with a better camera and post next week.
Used by alot of Dakar teams. Super strong and last well!

the TurnTech weighs 450 grams = 1lb roughly,
    My KTM 450 batt = 4.6 lbs.
Where else can you cut 3.6lbs for under $100?
    I want one!

Am I missing something? What is the difference between the Turntech/Ebattery compared to the Super-B besides the plastic case?
