08 TXC rear shock fell to pieces

So, I'm half way through a 2.5 hr cross country when the bike sags a lot in the rear end. I stop to look and the spring is sitting on the dog bone. The alloy fork (with the rebound adjustment screw) that bolts on to the linkage had come unscrewed from the chrome shaft, and had rotated around upside down, the rebound damping rod is bent and the collar that locks the spring on has disappeared. It had been to RG3 about 15 hrs ago, but i don't think they take that part off when they are re valving it. Has anyone seen this before. How do i resolve this. can you by individual parts for the shock, or do have to buy a new shock.

I think a suspension shop can get you pieces but you are going to be money ahead just finding used one. Check the classifieds on here, a guy named Jed was parting out a TXC 250 and he may have a shock for you.

I would contact RG3 and see what they have to say.

It does seem rather an odd coincidence, doesn't it?

I spoke to RG3 and the say they don't pull that bit off when they do a re valve, which i suspected. But its not the first time they have seen it. While it is by no means common, it does happen from time to time, to all makes and models. (Must be a Friday afternoon shock, no loctite.)
But they said they can machine up the missing and broken bits. Apparently you cant buy individual bits for the shock, for example if you want bits to do with the rebound side you have to buy the complete shaft, etc.

Mmmmm.... I don't think so. The last I knew, there was only one Ohlins shock in the entire US last season that would fit on a '08/'09 chassis, and Glen Kearney had it. Unless you bought the shock from that bike, Ohlins doesn't have one that was intended for a Husky 4T.

The problem is the location of the reservoir. Until the 2010 Yamaha 450f with it's 'backward' engine, no modern off-road bike has a reservoir that points toward the riders' right knee.

I've got a pair of pre-production Ohlins shocks that we tested on the new Yamaha, and visually, that cylinder head looks like it might fit '08 and newer Husky 4T bikes. I haven't had time to go over the technical specs yet, but I'm hoping it will work.

What's the part number on the top of the cylinder head of the shock you have? I can pull up the drawings and look at them and see if it's even close...

My '07 TC450 has an Ohlins on it...

These/Those shocks actually are produced by an Italian company called Andreani under a licensing agreement with Ohlins. They don't come from the Ohlins facility in Sweden. Not that it matters, they build great stuff, it's just that I can't get it at reasonable prices.

It's the old style off an '07...that is why I said if it matches up.
