Thoughts on the differences between the two bikes welcome. It appears to this untrained observer that the 610 is the same bike, but lighter. Thoughts?
Have got the 630 (and been on the 610). `Tis very much a different bike. The 630 is: - more suited for everyday usage (more oil in sump) - unplugged has a lot more power than the unplugged 610 (plugged, they´re both less than useless). Haven´t dyno´ed mine yet so this is just a gut feeling. - the 630´s got moulded plastics, not plastic decals that fall off. The panels are removable without needing any tools - the saddle is removable with the ignition key - the weight difference is caused by the (very heavy) exhaust and cat. Changing over to the twin Arrows in the Husky accessories list gets you back below the weight of the 610. My impression after having done a few thousand miles on the 630 is that, with the pu kit, Husqvarna has come out with a winner.
Glad to hear --i have just ordered a 630Te as my 3rd Husky --To do a little more 50-50 riding with. Will keep my 09--610te--love it to bits and keep the 450te --07. The good thing is as long as its red --my wife does not know the difference --as long as she can see --ONLY -3 bikes in the workshop she is Ok with it--Sold the Xr so need to keep the workshop locked until the630 comes
Twin Arrows are some Arrow made slipons available from Husky. They are nice and light, and cost a fortune.
Where does one get them? I've been surfing and cannot find these anywhere. Where does none get the Arrow slip-ons for the 630? Also, how much weight do they save? Thanks, Scott
http://www.husqvarna-motorcycles.com/_vti_g5_coll.aspx?rpstry=200_ They are listed in the Husky Special Parts Catalog on the page linked above. They look AWEsome!!!
If you really want to blow the doors off of everything, get the 630 and switch to the 610's single open exhaust Then you’ll be back to the 610's weight only with 20% more power (according to the papers ) Make sure to take pictures and post them over here when you do it
Does the 610 exhaust just bolt on, or is fabrication involved (which is better, that's what I do!) This si sounding more interesting all the time. Goodbye Katoom, hello Husky.....maybe. S
I’ve got the 610 and haven’t put my hands on the 630 yet so don’t have an answer to that It looks the same so I can’t imagine it’ll be to difficult
Did you call a Dealer and ASK??? I know they are available I've seen pics of them on several SM 630's.
AFAIK nobody has put a single exhaust on a 630. So we don't really know if there would be any advantage. I for one can't see how a more restrictive system would make more power. I am sure if it did Huskey would have built it that way in the first place. EDIT: I realize its no help at all. But the Arrow pipes cost $1800 Aussie Dollars.
The twin Arrows are straight through and come with their own black box. Together with the p/u kit they certainly do make a very noticeable difference. I was so eager to get the new parts on (mainly because I was disappointed with the bike as it came out of the showroom) that I forgot to weigh things before and after. But the standard exhaust is VERY heavy. The Arrows are much lighter (and provide a deeper sound). And they´re stamped street legal here in Europe.Together with the other parts that I disposed of, the weight difference to the 610 is more than compensated. And the performance is beyond comparison. I borrowed the 610 when it came out ... and gave it straight back! This is the bike I´d been looking for. Still some work left to be done: the front brake reservoir doesn´t fit under the hand guard and looks clumsy. The rear number plate holder also needs tidying up
I wonder if you guys overseas got a different brake reservoir than we did in the US. My brake reservoir is a little rectangular one, just like the clutch reservoir. It's not a high-mounted cylindrical plastic one typical to sportbikes. $1800 Australian is about $1650 US dollars. To me, right now, that's a fortune.
Coverted --here in South Africa its also a small fortune --will get a friend of mine who owns Air -Age exhaust systems to help me make my own ---put it on his Dyno to make sure it works when i get my 630 in a few months---
Why do you like the 630 so much better than the 610? I'm sure it's got more oomph, but I can get n '08 610 for $5500 while the 'improved' 630 with the Ti exhaust is going to be more like $10k. If $ were no object, no problem, but, sadly they are. I just want to know the extra $5 grand is worth it. Right now, it doesn't seem so. TE610 has same gear ratios, about the same power/torque where I'll use it, and it's 30 lbs lighter, unless the Arrows reduce wt by that much, which seems unlikely. Just saying....
