Am I to ASSUME that the '09's still suffer from the coolant flow affliction as previous models. Uptite Y to the rescue?

They sure do. I just installed the uptite "Y" on my 09 the other day. The bike wasn't suffering from any overheating issues I was aware of prior to the installation on the "Y" but, when you look at the flow characteristics with the stock "T" installed the design is essentially by-passing the right radiator therefore forefitting the full potential cooling capacity of the system. Seems silly not to have a Y there.

Hmmm. The right rad has the coolant fan. Could be because the only place to put it. I did the Up-tite "Y" also on my 08 TE450. The fan still comes on (hot day, slow tech or sand) It's a better mod for sure.

OK so I'm clueless....I'll admit it. Just got the 'Y' and there are no instructions. Has anybody put out a 'how to' thread on this? I can't find one. I'm assuming the tank must be removed and coolant drained? I have the '09 TE 510. Thanks.
    :excuseme:

Remove tank, fuel line quick connect and wiring. (Be very careful of the fuel pump plastic pipe on bottom of tank)
You may loose a little coolant but not that much.
Get two new SS hose clamps and throw the pinch clamps in your adventure bag. (They work in a pinch.) ;) Loosen the hose clam coming off the pump housing so you can slightly rotate as needed to remove the pinch. I actually cut a ½ inch off for less of a pinch on this hose.
Any more questions, just ask?
