09 TE 450 Low fuel light

Took a bit of a wipeout a few weeks back, and now my low fuel doesn't seem to be working right. It still comes on, but I'm thinking its coming on way too late. The past couple of times I've ridden it (on the street around town), when the fuel starts getting low, any when I hit the brakes or just let off the gas with the bike still in gear, it will either stall, or completely bog out if I try to get back on the gas. Seems to happen when the front end dives the slightest bit. As soon as I fill up the tank, no problems. The light will eventually come on if I keep going, but before when the light would come on I could still go quite a few miles before having to stop for fuel. Any suggesions?

I had an electrical prolem with my fuel light - It wouldnt come on at all, which caused me to get stuck far out in the bush with no fuel and so the wife had to retrieve me + bike...

I usually get around 80km before the light comes on, and about 100km if I run it dry. Keep in mind the difference in 150cc's between my 310 and your 450. I do mixed trail riding i.e. Short road sections, some open trail and some singe track.

Remove the fuel pump (first the seat, --> fuel line and electrical connection (unplug) --> then the fuel pump itself). In my case the wire to the level sensor snapped off and we were able to simply solder it back on.

Also the feed to the pump could possibly be flopping around causing it to suck air when it lurches forward during braking? You might be able to zip-tie it back in place if that is the case.

The other thing that may have happened is the fuel pump has become "unseated" in the holder assembly which seems to have been a problem with the 09 models and some others, easy fix for that. Lots of information on here and the hose clamp method that is used on the Ducatci fuel pumps looks to be about the best fix, although that is not what I did 1200 miles ago and mine seems fine (still).

My 09 450 would stall on hard braking and the fuel pump did unseat from the cheap plastic clips. I safety wired the pump into the mount vertically, also my low fuel light sensor broke off the its standoff and both power and ground leads were broken also. Why does Husqvarna use a fuel pump thats "MADE IN CHINA"?
