Pete, I've got my deposit on Fran's first WR125! Hancock, I'd love to go, but Jean isn't doing too well after last week's chemo. Bike has tires with screws mounted and ready to go. If it works out I'm going, but it will be a last minute thing.
East of Binghamtom on NYS RT17. A TRAIL OF TWO MOUNTAINS SNOW FUN RIDE Dec. 14th 2008 10 am start time at Art's. Site of the Ridge Run Enduro. Ridgeriders working together with Bearcreek sportsman are hosting a charity ride for Art Tompkins son Louie. All proceeds going to help with the mounting medical bills for Louie. We will be riding both mountains( Bearcreek- Tompkins) properties. Anybody that has rode the Quarry Run dualsport knows how much fun this ride will be. Studded or screwed tires are a must. A donation of $50 with food being provided free after the ride. Bill McQueen will be going up to work on the trail-clear deadfall from the snowstorm. Any and all help is needed with this to make this ride epic! His # is 908-442-3144 A little more info on this event. Louie is the owner of the property that both of the world enduros as well as the Ridge run are held on. He was also a key figure in opening up the Hancock area to motorcycles. His good word was responsible for much of the property used in the quarry run dual sport. Louie has encountered a serious medical problem which is still a mystery. He earns his living by manual labor. Due to his illness he has not been able to work. Since the holidays are coming and he has two small children, We need a big turnout to help offset his medical bills. The ride will start at the same place that the ridge run starts. The road will be cleared, but may not be big rig friendly depending on the weather. We will be using some of the terrain used in the Ridge Run, As well as the Bear Creek Sportsmen's property and it's adjoining newly leased 1,000 acres. We have a full day of riding planned. There will be a SnowCross track and possibly an endurocross section for the most daring. Balouts and shortcuts will be plentiful along the way. You won't have any fun with just rubber tires. Bring studs or at least screws. There will be quads following the pack to help riders. You do not need a road legal bike. Event will be follow the leader. If we have a large number it will split into two groups. The same crew that cooks for the Quarry run will be making a great FREE meal for after the ride. Louie and his family have been great friends to the motorcycling community. We need your help to show them some support. Please spread the word. Event is in HAncock NY 13783, Follow orange Moose arrows from Rt.17 & Rt.97.
Norm ...Hope your wife is doing better. In times like these...it is best to take one day at a time. My thoughts are with you and your wife Jean.
That's why we're here and not somewhere else. Thanks for the support for Jean and me. Anyone who can should send a few Dollars to help Louie Tompkins with his medical bills(I'll get an address). As the note said, he has been instrumental in welcoming dirt bikes into this beautiful area of NY. 10 years ago there was zero riding in this area, but since then it has hosted an ISDE 2 Day Qualifier, two WEC USGP's, one of the biggest annual Dual Sport rides in the East, an annual ECEA enduro and many other rides. This is all entirely on private land. This kind of growth doesn't happen in the East anymore. I can't ride, but I'm sending an entry fee. Norman
