The upper oil feed banjo on my brand new TE250 losened up on it's maiden ride and spewed oil all over my new bike and boots.

Thank goodness I caught it right away and shut it down.

I'm going to pull the cams just to make sure they are wet and the journals are okay.

Anyone got instructions on pulling the cams......cam cap torque and whatnot?

Any tips on getting the tank off?

    Thanks.

Tank is EZ. Take the frame bolt out and the two on the side panels. Pull the fuel line but compressing the tabs and sliding it off the EFI body. Lift the tank and undue the electriacl connector, remove tank carefully and do not snag the fuel line as it route through.

Dunno the cam cap torque specs. :excuseme: Cams come right out, no need to mess with the chain. Indicator makes to line them back up.

I bet your fine. BTW check those fittings after changing oil as moving the cap off the filter can loosen them. Not to tight, just snug.

    - I have not had this issue but I go over my bike quite a bit and hit all the EZ to get to bolts.

    Thanks!

I'm going to try to get it back to the dealer tonite....we'll see what happens.

I can tell you first hand that not too tight, just snug, aint tight enough.

They really need to put tabs on the upper banjo to keep it in place. It is free floating and a good wack on it from a boot or branch will move it.

I pulled the cams on my te and the bolts on the cover / holders were extremely tight. however, when I put mine back on threads let loose on one of the head for one of the bolts, so be careful. The small thread size cant take to much torque, all though I don't know what that is. I do know the one that let loose I had only snugged down so I could recheck the valve gap. Also keep in mind the different length bolt sizes.

    Thanks!

How do you get the breather tube out of the valve cover.

Does the black fitting yank right out or must I wrestle with the crimp clamp on the hose?

Doug, did the threads in the head give way or did the threads on the bolt go?

    Hi
I'm not sure if you got my earlier reply since I don't see it, so if this is a repeat sorry.

I used a pair of pliers and the silver clip popped right off. It didn't take much effort. Then I replace it with a small hose clamp. Then I removed the hose from the black plastic fitting that rotates.

The threads on the head gave out. It was a pain to remove the bolts. I had to use the 5in allen wrench with a breaker bar to remove them. Then I had changed the shims and had only snugged the bolts back up so I could re check the valve gap. then it let loose. Also keep in mind the bolts are of different length. Also I had put a blue permenate marker mark on the top of the cam gear to mark where I had taken it out at, so upon re assembly it I could get it back in the same spot.

    hope this helps
    Doug
