    Hello Guys,

I know there is some info on the forums but not enough to make a good call. I have a 2012 te310 (xlite) with 13/50 gears. I need to gear lower for hillclimbs. Will, a 12 tooth sprocket up front work or will it wear out the upper swing arm and slider? If so I will use a 52 or 53 rear but I don't want to buy another chain as its too short at only 112 links.

I really need input from those who have te310s from 2011 through 2014 as I believe they are all similar in dimensions for the chain geometry/swingarm etc.

    Thanks for any replies.

    A 12 will work fine.

I've been running a 12t on my '14 TE310R for 3400miles of my 3700miles- no problem at all, no excess wear on the chain slider.

on a related note, I just changed my chain and sprockets (I went to a 12z-52z) after 3300miles. Coming off a 51 in the rear... I still want a slightly lower 1st, but I'm semi-close. The thing is I'm losing so much more off the top end I'm not sure it's worth it (I'm way past the point of diminishing returns). I'm actually thinking of going the other way (50z or even 48z- I like to keep it even teeth front & back for wear purposes).

2% speed difference in 1st gear at 7mph is not real noticeable; but my easy 6th cruise speed (40mph) is really affected.

thanks for the info guys. My buddy has a 2009 TE310 and the internal trans ratios are lower than 2011-2014 bikes. His 13/50 is equivalent to our 13-53 or 12/50 set up,

Rancher. what is your actual bike you used a 12 tooth sprocket on?

I have a buddy with 2 2012 250s and he runs 12T on both of them.
