I'd never get rid of my 07 WB165 but have found a good deal locally on a 08 wr250.Can anyone who has ridden both chime in as to how they are different in terms of handling and power. This bike would strictly be used on mountain single tracks.
    Thanks

Ask ajaxauto that one. He had and raced both. He sold his 165 to Walt and the 250 is mine.

If you are a bigger guy the 250 would be good . Im 6ft but still find some issues with starting the 300. The 300 I have is great other than it is more harder work in rear tight stuff - up and down narrow single track . The 300 has great torque but I think the 250 would be better in tighter stuff and possibly jet and start easier as well .

i have both (okay- the 250 is a year2000 bike) and i like both.
the 165 feels like its been so much lighter, has enough power for most of us, but the 250 has even more, its also feeling heavier, kick starting is not as easy as the 165/125 and the whole bike is much taller.
I wouldn say go for a specific bike- its more to what u prefer.
Go for a test drive before u decide what u want.

I have a 125 and a 300. The larger bike is more comfortable and roomy to ride, even though I am a small person. It is also a more stable platform, but will give away some of the turning quickness that the small bike possesses. So that is is the trade off between the two. Starting is of course easier on the small bore, and it weighs less, but I can barely pick one machine over the other. I love to ride both of them!

It's clear that you'll just have to get the 250 and see for yourself. I love mine in tight single track. It has such good weight distribution that I can just stop, turn and go again while standing up on the pegs without putting a foot down.

Agree- if it is a good deal and you like IT Husky's ;very hard to beat. More power is like more money...makes life easier.

If your situation allows then I would have to agree with Dirtdame, Get both. I own both & I doubt I will ever get rid of either of them! They are both great, just in different ways! A plus side of keeping two bikes is if one has a misshap then you don't need to miss a race or a ride while getting parts & or repairing a damaged machine.

Few things are as frustrating & disheartening as trying to fix a seized/blown up motor while you buddies are out shredding.
