anyone tried a 14 tooth on the front with a 48 on the back? about to put new c&s on and i have a new 15 tooth front and 48 rear but wondering whether to go the whole hog and stick a 14 on the front. trying to get the bike quite animal but i'm commuting on it so i don't want it to be a stunt machine...
possibly. will see how i get on with 3+ on the back at first. if i want more ooomph then should be able to fit a 14 front without having to adjust chain length
I was looking at the 14/47 setup from Renthal. I'm in the woods more than the road these days. The 14/45 is ok, but I would like to try it.
i dont do alot of highway riding but it still rides comfortably at 100/110kmph. if i was to do a long trip involving big hwy kms i would swap it back to stock but for me its fine.
got a 48 put on the rear today while getting a rear tyre fitted. stuck with 15 on the front. feels much better but still reckon 14/48 could work!
ok so tried running the 14/48 for a few weeks but didn't really like it. as was said earlier it's too short. it puts the bike in too high revs for the speed it's going meaning that you're outside of the best of the torque range. 15/48 is just about perfect for me i think. as long as i've got the output sprocket on the right way round
will a 13t front sprocket fit on a 610 without issues? i am running 14/47 but would like to try 14/49 or 13/47 (pretty similar according to gearing commander). a front sprocket is alot cheaper than a rear for a quick test run....
There are downside to going smaller on the front sprocket. At 13, it is starting to become a tight turn for the mass of the chain to change direction. This eats power and increases wear.
14/46 works a charm! The front lofts effortlessly in 3rd at an point in the rpm range. I can still do highway speed, I just choose not to.
interesting. my front certainly doesnt loft effortlessly in 3rd and i run 14/47. in fact i cant remember the front lofting in 3rd ever??
Did you install the JD tuner and open the air box? I'm not sitting on the gas tank when I ask it, but I'm not trying very hard either. I will say that having the suspension set up right helps matters too.
