I installed a 14t front sprocket on 2015 tc250 in hopes of gaining some more top speed for the desert. The oring chain looks very close to the clutch slave cylinder and after riding up the street it even wore into it a little bit. Has anyone ran into this? Will this be a problem?

    wow.

The first thing I would do is count the teeth on the new counter shaft sprocket to confirm that it is actually a 14 tooth sprocket.

    good luck.

If the 14 tooth is causing the chain to wear the slave cylinder I would ditch it immediately. Especially since you're riding in the desert. All it will take is a tiny leak to develop and there goes your clutch. If it were me, I'd go back to the 13 front and start dropping teeth from the rear until you get the speed you want.

Must be a 250 issue since the street versions 350 and 501 come with a 14 from the factory.

You can see where it just rubbed a little. Maybe because of the oring chain. I will ride more and watch it.

I would not ride like that. I would hit that area with J-B Weld or Marine-Tex and get a better fitting sprocket. I might even embed a small piece of thin steel in the epoxy. You probably don't have much casting left (1mm?).

I think o-ring chains for CRF-250s are smaller... but only in width, IIRC.

    good luck.

[edit- I know I asked this before, but are you sure that the sprocket is not something like a 16 tooth? Count the teeth, maybe the factory made a mistake. Seems to me those bikes should be able to run a 12-15z sprocket. OTOH- I don't own one. Also KTM has never been famous for excess metal in their castings; especially around the counter shaft area]

Another downside to running a chain that close to the slave cylinder is that should a small rock get wedged in between the chain and slave cylinder it could take out the clutch.

I run a 14t on my bike. with no problems. I put it on after a couple rides in the desert. The stock gearing was just to slow.

I know what's wrong! There's a bolt missing in that picture. Oh, and it says KTM, now that's a real issue.

OK, all kidding aside, do you, the guy who just dropped some premium coin on a new bike want to experiment with wearing parts like that? If you really love the gearing, try a different chain. Pretty sure a
Good chain is less expensive than replacing the slave.

Is your sprocket on the wrong way? Not sure on the later models but my 2009 sprocket is offset and only goes on one way...

Wrong chain. Should be 520 not 520H.

And TYC isn't known for quality uniformity.

Thanks, umm (too long of name haha).
I looked at my chain and slave clearance (just installed 14), clearance on slave itself isnt too bad but tge alum bracket over top that attaches to frame is a little closer, i took a grinder and took just a little off to give mud and debris little more room
