Ok....was pretty set on grabbing a '17 Yammy 250x for next season to properly enter our Ontario Offroad series after testing the waters with a couple events on my 2010 Husky Cr 144 and then it happened....I walked into 2-wheel performance plus in Brockville....Al Jonker could see the desperate look in my eye for guidance and BAM....deposit on a 2017 TX 300.......am still in shock....looking forward to sharing the experience of this beast along the way :)

Great choice! I almost bought a YZ250X without riding one but decided on a leftover 2015 300xcw and while down at Loretta lynn's this spring, I rode a 250X at a demo day, yuck! I hated everything about the 250X from the suspension to ergos to the goofy angle of the kick start. The 300 kicks easy for me and feels like a custom fit glove on my hand. This is only my personal experience with the yamaha and I know many love them.
Enjoy the new bike, the new 300 engines are silky smooth.

Congrats ripnriding. You will not be disappointed. Here is mine. I tried the JD Jetting kit and went with a Lectron Carburetor and recently installed a 2017 KTM 300 xc-w Intake Flange Part # 55430250000 that is approximately 10 mm shorter. If you decide to go with the Lectron, the intake flange is a must. I also went with the Rekluse Core 3.0 Clutch and Dual Actuated Left Hand Rear Brake, FMF Gnarly and Turbinecore 2 Silencer,Husky Fan Kit,SXS Skid & Link Guard,P3 Pipe Guard,Seat Concepts ISDE Team Canada Seat Cover,G2 Tubeless Kit,CV4 2.0 Rad Cap,and a Trail Tech Voyager.

Slavens racing is also addressing this flange length difference between Husky and KTM with their/his latest Lectron R&D project kitting with Lectron.

Curious to know from all you TX 300 owners....did you find the Reeds leaked due to warped cage? I'm at about 4-500 above sea level where I ride and been searching the airbox benefits from a small modification to allow more air..?Also heard the jetting recommendations in the manual are all out of wack...Any tips welcomed. Won't ride this beauty until the new season and spend time beefing up armour to keep pipe, linkage, and rads protected....how about steg pegs....for or against?

I own a 2017 Husqvarna tx 300 and I installed a Lectron carburetor and a Intake Flange off of a 2017 ktm 300 xc-w part # 55430250000 which is 10 mm shorter and makes the install of the Lectron fit perfect. When I installed the intake flange I inspected my reeds and they looked perfect. You will not be dissapointed in the Lectron......

Hi guys, I have a 14 TE300 at the moment. The stock gear ratios work great at the altitude I ride. I'm thinking next year about getting a new bike, ether a TE or TX. Hopefully someone here has experience with a TX at and above timberline. Is first and second to high ratio that you have to go a few teeth larger on the rear sprocket to ride hardcore rocky trails at timberline? The deciding factors between the two bikes will be the difference between gear ratios and forks, which one will work better for me. If the air forks are that much better than the explor forks, I would even consider getting the TX and changing out first and second gears. I would like to hear what you guys that have a TX, think.

If I were you I would consult with Jeff Slavens, IMHO he is the master tuner/builder of Co. rocky mtn high riding and particular with 300c 2 strokes.

Thanks robertaccio, I should have thought about Slavens. I think he rides a 300 XC so he should know. I was at his shop last week and did not even think to talk to him about the gearing.
