No huskys here but still had to report. Was a hot weekend for us at nearly 100 degrees and lots of humidity. instead of going to the national MX at Washougal this weekend I went dualsporting in the cool mountains. Was an epic 174 miles of great scenery and good times. hard to beat when you can leave and hit this stuff right from my house. My ride (99 ATK 490 DS) This area has some paved roads in the middle of no where. Very cool for railing on. this area is also hard to access because several washouts but passable on a bike making everything on the other side all ours to rip on. Really nice rivers / waterfalls and lakes everywhere... Lots of opportunity... buddy Joe... Awesome views and features and loaded with wildflowers made this day VERY fun... What the heck? This is not growing out of the ground, it is placed there ??? This is on an old skid road that is now on the map as a adventure / DS route. unfortunately it needs cleared (chainsaw) so we needed to backtrack 15 miles after being within 2 miles of where we wanted to go. More cool roads discovered though reroutes though... Remote gas and food and off we go... Really fun day. A few years ago I kinda got in to DS. A first i thought it might be lame but I have been having a blast exploring. Actually can be more fun than real dirt bike riding on a hot nasty day where the trails will be scorching hot and super dusty. Sitting here thinking how i can get back up there ASAP. Kelly
Sitting here in a wet grim English summer it looks soo good. You have some of the best off roading.Looked like a great day out, just what a dirt bike is for. Thanks Jay B
A lousy day will work just dandy also. A dirt bike can often turn a lousy day out into a great adventure.
Aww that's what weekends are made for. Did you see any other rider out play'n? Good pics Kelly. Thx for sharing.
Not one other bike (although i did see tracks on the dead end adventure trail) and only a few trucks with hikers in them. pretty much 150 miles of road with no one on them which is GREAT as you can hang it out on the roads and powerslide your ass off. Unless you hike or DS there is no real reason to be out there as most of it goes no where (perfect). The 20- plus miles of pavement to get here is all country / farm land. One stop light from my house and your all bliss.
What a nice ATK you have. Looks good as new. Your pics are always great. I have family up in WA and your pics make me want to take the truck and bikes next time I visit and find some good dirt up there. Looks like there is plenty of it.
Nice stuff, Kelly! Yeah, dualsporting is kind of my summer activity now. It's even better when there are swimming holes and/or hot springs along the way WoodsChick
I would be traveling up I5 to Hwy101. I would be going right through Vancouver. That would be excellent to see some of that good WA dirt. I will have to see what I can do.
If / When you come up PM me for my cell etc and we'll make it happen. the trails up here kinda suc but we'll see what we can scrounge up... some can even be dusty!!! But once in a while you chance across a good one...
Seriously though later int he year is better. it is in the 100's right now. September up there rules.
Excellent. Sept. and cooler sounds better to me. I heard it was 106* yesterday in Portland. We have plenty of those temps here right now. Thank goodness for swimming holes.
I'll say!! Can you ride to it, EnduroMan? I have a friend that lives in Chico, he's shown us some fantastic stuff WoodsChick
Kelly, I hate you for the rides you get to do. No, I love you man, you are just one lucky man to be in a beautiful part of the PNW. I'll be heading to Colorado in a couple of weeks to hook up with my nephew in Steamboat, and as many places in between. Should get some good riding in as I am taking the 450. Going to swing up and around through Utah and not sure. As long as the wife has something to do for the day my prospects are limitless. Aug 12th through the 31st.
