1976 360WR Cylinder wall question?

    When I was installing a new piston ring in my 76 360wr I found a small hole in the front cylinder wall and came out in the exhaust port. I put a small wire through the hole and thats where is went. The hole was about a 3/4" below the top of the cylinder Is this normal or a damaged cylinder?
