1979/1983 WR exhaust silencer

    I have 2 WRs, a 79 and 83, can anyone tell me how to remove the packing insert? Is the spring is welded to this at the inner end? Are they repackable?

    1980 390CR, 1982 430CR, 1984 400WR
    Other Motorcycles:
    1985 250XC, 2016 FJ-09
    Pull the springs off, then using a needle nose plyers, turn & wiggle
    the inside baffle out, may take some time if it's been in there for
    a long time & gunked in there.

    Thanks Husky John,
    I think they have never been removed, cleaned the screen and cone inside the end cap with a propane torch, holes are much bigger when all the gunk is burned off. Should be faster/quiter when done.
