Hello All.. well I've just lunched the second clutch basket drive gear..the small one on the back..I bought a complete 250 set, primary gear, clutch basket, idler and kick gear..worked for a while..but ..anyway..I understand there is an "upgrade: tom use the coarse teeth gear set..any one have some lying around..? I know HVA have /had some but would have to mortgage my house to buy..alternatively, anyone have a 430 basket.?

I have the upgraded primary gear set complete and with the clutch on Ebay. The clutch gear with the coarse or big tooth pinion on the back #272.

I was sitting looking at the clutch basket..I've read that the issue is the small gear has not been hardened "properly" or sufficiently..and over time with use the teeth wear through..anyone had the small gear hardened..might solve the issue..? Anyone..?

Replace the bearings in the kickstart gear train often

The needle roller bearing that fits inside the clutch gear many times has the plastic cage and this allows the bearing/cage to twist and then the gear does not engage with the idler gear straight on causing much of the wear. Best to change that needle/roller bearing to the one with the steel cage. Husky finally did that much later.

Yep..have the metal cage bearing..also have bushes in the idler and kick gear rather than bearings..

Picklito, you turned me to that bearing for the 500, did not know it fit the 430 too. Good to know. Chris

Awesome. AFAIK it fits all the Swedish primary kick, 240-500.
