1982 Husqvarna 430 - Magneto Puller

Can anyone tell me if there is a magneto puller for another bike that I could buy from a local dealer and it would work for the above mentioned bike?

Or do I have to source out one that is made for the bike?

use the one thats listed Bultaco, Maico, Husky, ect...
i dont remember the part number..as long as you have the motoplat flywheel it should be the same.

.......................This is a $4.99 puller from Princess Auto (cheap western Canada tool depot.)

You will need to grind the hooks to clear between the flywheel and case.

A couple of things if you use this;

Grind your hooks to give yourself good clearance, to the engine case. As this puller only has 2 arms it wants to 'Keel over' unless you have it dead center, if it did you might do a case a mischief.

Put layers of electrical tape, on the bottom of the hooks where they come into contact with the flywheel.

Take your time with it, same puller works on the primary drive gear as well. l have used this 3 or 4 times on both sides works great

buy the right tool for the job..and you wont damage the hard to find parts your repairing.
old saying....take your time, use the right tools, and do it right...you will only have to do it once.

Just because it wasn't made for the job does not mean it doesn't work!

20.00 isnt bad, but think how much that would cost when you warp the flywheel with the wrong puller, or chip the edge of a magnet???100.00? maybe more?
or even worse, crack the case, were the edge the puller arm grabs, or when it pops loose, and hits you right in the face????surgery, stitches,,loss of work ect ect..
that 20.00 looks pretty cheap..

I ended up buying the correct tool, just waiting for delivery, probably the hardest part, the waiting.

Hopefully the tool I bought works, works being the right one, the guy said there should be no issues with returns if it does not fit for some reason.

Think it is a 26 mm with RH threads. We will see when it gets here.

I ended up paying a little more than 20, after shipping probably 35CND, too bad I did not see this before order.

youll be happy that you did,.. if you use an air impact, a flywheel holder wont be needed.
if you dont have air...you may want to look for one..i see them on Fleabay now and then.
