Sorry for the upside down pictures, couldn't get them right side up for some reason?!

So I have what I believe to be an extremely RARE find here and would love any information anyone has about the history of this bike/model, value, etc. I'd really like to purchase the bike but need to help the gentleman put a fair value to it first to determine if I can afford it or need to pass it along to another Husky enthusiast with deeper pockets!! Very much appreciate any information.

Here's what I know about the bike. It's essentially a one owner. They guy who owns it never rode it. Bought it from his brother, a friend of mine who never rode it. HE bought it from the original owner in 1985 and never raced it, just rode it in the desert a few times (yes, it's an AZ bike). Odo shows 272 miles and that IS original. Still has original tires on it as you can hopefully see in the pix. Appears to have MINIMAL wear from boots and a couple of the stickers along the side panels are starting to wear off. Beyond that, pictures speak for themselves I think.

Looks more like a 1984 model but the title shows it as a 1985. Yes, it even has a title! I think I've confirmed that it is in fact a 1985 as the serial number is W019862 which seems to line up with the 1985 models, I believe 1984 models stated with WO11000?

I'd be happy to email these pictures if it's of any help. You can post here or contact me directly at ktmtom@hotmail.com Thank you all!

Does the fact that it has an ISDE sticker on the shroud made it "unique"? I'm told this was a "Desert" replica which, don't know what makes it such other than it does show it's got a skid plate on it and a number of other differences from what I believe was the "standard" WR 400 for 1985.

It is not rare at all other than its like new condition. The bike is the same as the 1984 400WR but they sold it alongside the single shock 400WR in 1985.

not rare. They all had that sticker. Was billed in 1985 as ISDE replicas for sales as Husky was powerhouse team/brand then. Even heard them unofficially called the "Mike Melton" replicas much like the previous Dick Burleson replicas. Most stickers did not last long. Very nice shape though
Never ever ever heard of desert replica BTW

Automatics had the ISDE replica sticker replaced with one that was black and said "Auto"

great bike but quite a few about. I have two in my shed in aus. the motor is a standout and the ride and steering is excellent. at this point in time ~half way thru 1984, husky had the LC motor ready but the single shock frame was giving trouble so they chucked the motor into the twin shocker and sold those till half way thru 1985 when they got the wrx single shocker out to the public.

things to check on such a bike if your are going to ride it.
    1. airfilter. don't try to start it until you have a new airfilter or you may suck a heap of old foam into the engine...not good.
    2. the water pump housing corroded out very badly on those models unless its had an alloy sidecover replacement. drain coolant pull pump cover and check it all out. the gearbox doesn't like coolant in it.

    3. I would strip and clean forks and replace oil as moisture may have formed inside, have shox regassed, strip and clean headstem and swingarm pivot and grease with waterproof grease. same with axles and brake shoe pivots.
    4. pull the muffler and check it, wasps, mice and allsorts of things love an exhaust pipe home.

    5. remove speedo and put in a nice safe place, they are hard to get and easy to smash.

I would also replace tyres, 30 y/o tyres will just fly to bits after a few rides. be nice to keep them in good shape as they don't exist anymore and a 100 point resto would require trelleborgs and a speedo! replace the radiator covers with dc ones and put those away somewhere nice.

use either straight 30 wt or ATF-F in the gearbox., castor 927 or any quality 2 stroke oil at 40:1 in the fuel

    husqvarnaparts.com for bits and pieces

otherwise, buy the side tank stickers, sidecover stickers and wack her on fleabay / craigs and see if you get a bite!

My 400 was like that in it had no real wear and tear ( brake hubs shiny inside) but the tank, side covers and seat were ratty and the gbox full of coolant.

    enjoy

yup, these are pretty easy to care for but you need to care for them right. those tires will induce a wreck, as they are hard as freaking rocks..
