I am considering buying an 87 WR 250 in what looks to be good running condition. Haven't checked it out yet but saw a vid of it running. Anyway my plan would be to use it for trail riding but also to strip the enduro hardware off and run it a the track and maybe even enter a few evo mx events with it. I'm not a serious motocrosser by any stretch so it would just be for fun so my question is would this bike serve that purpose? Is it the same bike as an XC only with lights ? Would an XC or CR sub frame bolt up or would it be ok to cut the frame loop off ? Any opinions are greatly appreciated.

please dont cut the frame loop, i would gladly trade for a loop, as i have a few cr/xc subs..yes the subs will swap between 87-88 2 strokes. the wr basically just sits lower than xc/cr bikes, in a nutshell..
awesome bike for the trails, but require some revalving for track work..imho these bikes dont shine there, but are excellent for off road work and very comfy!

Justintendo, I might be interested in a subframe swap at some point as I have 4 WRs and 1 XC bike.
