    Hi all,

I'm new to the forum, and new to Husqvarna!
Picked up, what I believe to be, a '97 WR 125 last night for quite a fair price. Needs some work.....
    Added some pictures below.
Would be great to siphon some of the knowledge from other forum users on this bike, I have found it quite difficult to source information! (Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places, hopefully I've found the right one)

What I need to know first is of course - is my bike indeed a 97 WR125?

Fingers crossed my pics have uploaded as intended...(edited!)

It looks like it could be. No 1997 models were imported into the US so I do not have a lot to go on. The forks look correct and so does the plastic.

I don't have experience with those years or models but you are in the right place. Lots of knowledgeable, helpfull people on here. You can check the frame numbers here:http://www.huskyclub.com/model.htm

Thanks, from what I could find it is, due to the expansion pipe being routed on the left side.

oldbikedude; thanks for the link, unfortunately the frame number for my bike is listed as 'none' . It's the only one with this in the fame number column. Does this mean it doesn't have a number? I've looked where I believe the usual place to be (by the stem) and at a glance, I can't see one? Pic of table below.

Anyone know any contacts for parts advice in the UK?

Need some small bits like kick start lever, shift lever and brake levers etc. Original bits are hard to find, but I am assuming it may share parts of the same size from other bikes?

And also found this, could it be an earlier 1995 CR 125?

Better try and find a frame number!

its got the old engine with 56mm piston- so it should be a 1995-1996 Model, not the most common bike...

the reason your 97 is not on there is due to the chart being a US import chart
as rancher1 says they were not imported here that year

    Great thanks.

Sounds like I'm going to have fun getting my parts then! On the upside, will be nice to have a bike that no-one else has!

Started pulling it apart today, it's had a rough life. ALL the plastics were held in place with cable ties.....

I'm in the uk too, there's a fw husky dealers but whether they'll stock parts for it is questionable, try husky sport in cheriton, or dual sport motorcycles, other than that ebay is your best friend. Levers should be easy, you can bolt on any bars that are the same thickness as the ones on there then buy levers and perches to suit. I got bars on ebay universal that fit most mx bikes, the brake master cylinder from a 2006 wr bolted straight onto mine. Shift lever, you'll need to do some measuring of the diameter of the shaft that the lever sits on and the lever itself, rfx do some that might fit. Engine parts wise, I need to see your cylinder and piston area to check but mitaka state the piston kit I have fits the 97 onwards for the husky 125's, with riken rings. Can you upload some pics of the engine area?

looking over again, your brake caliper, rear master cylinder, rear brake lever , shock, air box, carb positioning, clutch spring clip, all look how mine does, your radiator hose looks different as does the cylinder [from what I can see of it]. I do spy what looks like a red rfx lever on there though, that's good if so

Thanks Gaz, I found the frame number, need to remove the paint to reveal it today. Are they stamped deep? Don't want to remove the number in the process!

I will put some more pics on today, plastics, tank, seat and rear frame all removed now......might have to start a new thread for the project!!

I have done a bit of home work and found that the bike shares parts with much newer machines also! Up to 2011?

some parts do interchange but the biggest is 95-99, a fair number of parts except plastic
there is a thread here on mounting newer plastics, you need a newer tank and subframe then a couple of mods
    but voila a 2007 97

Yep, 56 bore. Based on the stamp I found for the 50.6mm stroke.....
    192.....hmmmm, sounds expensive!

So what are my options for this engine in this department?

To be honest, my plan for the bike in the short term was to get it rideable for this season. Long term.........?
