125-200cc 1999 WR125 in near new condition, need mod advice

I found what was advertised as a 2000 Husky 125 but looks like a 1999 from what I can see, old style shrouds on it. Bike has near zero hours on it, original tires, drive, brakes, etc. No paint wear at the frame, pegs are like new too.

So, I'm looking around and it seems like plastics are not available? Is there a source, I don't mind the style, they are suffering from decal bombing bright spots, shame too, they are in good condition overall.

From my searches I think the 2000-04 tank will bolt on and the shrouds, side # plates and fenders can be used, true?

Are these M-zoke forks in 45mm?

Spring recommendation for a 200 lbs rider?

Anything to watch on this year engine?

So far I'm just flushing fluids, draining the overly rich oily premix and getting the car oil out of the trans.

Anyone have the gearbox oil capacity handy? I never like removing the oil level bolt in these things.

not sure how much it takes does it not have a window to see thru drain the oil and put new stuff in till you see it in the bottom of window, stop for a min or so for the oil to settle and top up to halfway, thats how i do it.
or measure the amount of oil that comes out an put the same in of freash, good find on the sweet looking ride

Thanks. Dealer says 800cc, can't hurt much if it's a lil high anyway. Man, that's a lot! Our RM 125 held 600 I think.

I have to go look again, I didn't see a window. I think I saw the level screw but would rather not touch that.

Looking to see if a later model shock will bolt in. Anyone know? I have a line on a 2002 CR250 shock, I've already grabbed a set of 99 CR250 forks to help support my girthy butt! LOL!

I'm going through the same process. I think we are twins from a parallel universe because I bought a 99 WR 125 this year and I too weigh 200lbs. I got the 00-04 plastic. You'll need the subframe to make it look nice. It does have the 45mm zokes and you can swap between many years, there are more details that I can't recall off the top of my head but they are in my other posts. I got a CR 250 shock and was looking at CR 250 forks on *bay but I bet you bought those...dammit. I asked about the spring rates as well and there seemed to be some controversy. From my past experience with other bikes the CR parts looked like they would be close for me. Check out the sticky post about parts interchangeability it will help you immensely. It even lists the spring rates for the suspension.

Maybe Walt will chime in here, but you guys might have the discontinued WR transmission in your WRs? Would be especially nice should you ever do the WB165 big bore mod.

Cool bike . I think you can possibly change to the 08 plastics too but what's wrong with the original ? The plastics and seat could be stored for resale I guess but you'd need to do a lot of work
That bike should be in museum. Those things were winning world championships in mx and enduro. The last huskies to do that in mx (cr)
It does have the wider ratio gear box

I didn't realize the bikes were that good. I bought mine for $400 as a beater and I'm completely rebuilding/upgrading it. Yes, the tank would be needed in the swap as well. I guess part of my motivation for changing the plastics is to be different but also it seems there is better availability for replacements.
old3, I may take you up on that offer. I was going to rebuild mine, but the base valve came out in pieces on one side and I haven't been able to source a replacement for a fair price.
I've seen 2 or 3 00-02 CR125's on the market locally for $1000-$1200 since getting this one. Maybe I should be snatching them up!

I'm rebuilding a '95. I may be interested in your plastics if you change them and want to sell the old ones.

I personaly would not alter that bike,you hit the lottery on that one,keep that as a trophy and throw together an other 125 for riding,nice find.

If you want to change the plastic to '00-'04, you'll need tank, radiators, seat and subframe to make it work. Rear axle changed in '01, front axle changed in '02. You can use same rear wheels after '00, up to '08 with newer spacers and fronts with newer size bearings, as hubs are the same. Swap springs front and rear for your weight, stock CR250 rates might still be too soft.

Hey Norman! Thanks for the info. I like the stock plastics, just worried there isn't any more to be found! Is there a source? Anyway, this is her with some new tires, fluids, bars, grips and Decal Works number plate back grounds. I'm shopping for a later model CR250 shock and then I'll try it out. My suspension guy, Corey from Pro Tune Suspension in OH already knows what to do on both ends when I'm ready to go all the way. He is a KTM ace but knows his stuff. Affordable too.

I don't know that Husky offered the wr with the actual wide ratio transmission for 1999. Parts book for that year doesn't call it out.
