Figured I'd just post up some pics for anyone who wants to look! I was able to pick this up for $1000. I think I got a good price....

I've been working on the bike lately.
    So far I've:

    Disassembled tank, shrouds, fenders/side panels
    Disassembled exhaust and painted
    Added hand guards
Disassembled the rear subframe/air box and degreased, cleaned, changed and oiled air filer...and reassembled
Disassembled and cleaned petcock valve and filter on gas tank
    greased the zerks
Regreased ALL bolts before reassembly of all parts
    Cleaned engine
    Touched up some frame paint

    To do:

    Change gear oil
    Check radiator fluid
    Check air pressure in tires

Also noticed my muffler / silencer is missing a few screws (pics below). Will I be doing any damage running without them? I did notice a lot of grime/grease/grit on the side plastic where the I'm missing the exhaust screws. Almost like something is coming out of the holes.

My brother is in the process of fixing up a 1980 Yamaha IT 250!!! We are both trying to learn as much as possible and are finding that working on the bikes is half the fun!

I think the number plate is the same to at least 2002 for CRs. Those holes in the muffler are 5mm bolts iirc, I just repacked mine and replaced the bolts with 3/16" rivets. No chance of vibrating out. I think I had to drill the holes slightly. The stuff in the hole is fiberglass packing. Just stuff it back in with a pick.

Nice bike, the tire pressure will change, (drop) day to day. You need to check it every time you ride, or should at least. I run mine at 14 psi to prevent flats.

Well bought! Looks very low hour.

Looks good ESP for a grand ... and does this model have the true Wide Ratio transmission gears?

Working on a bike is OK ...What I find the most fun is, making a change to the suspension or engine and then going out to test it for a couple days in many different scenarios ...

The end cap on the exhaust has a inner big o-ring which seals everything up, looks like the cap is not inserted enough so the bolt holes are not showing. The cap is difficult to re-fir so dont force it.

Any suggestion for an aftermarket silencer? Can I replace just the silencer....or should I do the whole exhaust chamber too?

What did you use to clean the engine. I am currently going through my 2000 WR250 and getting off a decade of grime is proving very difficult.

Bike looks nice. I'm looking at my beat up 2002 cr250 and thinking it needs a good freshen up next winter!
