This is my first ride report so go easy on me. My right hand man and I rode up to some private property yesterday to tackle the infamous "2 Miles of Hell" in Virginia. This makes my "Top 5 List" of things not to do again. Most of it is running up a creek bed for about two miles. You are rewarded with about 200 yards of trail at the end....woohoo. We had numerous get offs and bulldog sessions. I easily lost 2 gallons of sweat and my stomach contents. I was on my new 09 TE510 and my buddy Shannon is on his trusty 450X. This is what the 510 is made for right? The mic was in my Ogio flight vest and banging around on things so I threw some music in to "cover" some that. It may have a long load time. Hope you enjoy. Lee ps. oh yeah, special thanks to Kelly at Motosportz for my bike protection. It took a beating, trust me. http://gallery.me.com/lpresgrave#100452
Hey that was awesome. Man I know what you mean about 2 lbs of sweat. Many times today I thought, what did I get myself into. After our ride I came home washed my bikes, cleaned the air filters etc. Had a nice cool shower. Thought I was pretty lucky not to get Heat stroke or break any parts of my body... My heart was finally back to normal ...and then I watched your video. I'm all sweaty again and my heart is racing. Thanx...thanx a lot I think I'll go have another shower now. Oh ya I was gonna ask ya. What size sprockets are you running? Stock?
That was very technical! The gnarliness came through on the video...and yes the TE's were not cut out for going over that stuff slow. The faster you can go over that stuff the better. ***Easier said than done eh!*** Otherwise, you feel every single pound that the Husky weighs! I take a 100 oz camelbak and empty it before the rides over...sweat sweat sweat! Did your bike overheat? Did the fan come on? I bet it did in that stuff. David
I like the way you passed up your friend and just kept going! You weren't going to give up that well earned momentum to see how your friend was doing...awesome and you took off when the trail opened up...nice!
Yeah, he and I have an "agreement". We use each other as berms all the time. If we can hear each other we're good. I'm actually running a 14 tooth front, one up from stock, so I'm a little tall gearing wise, especially for that! My fan came on a few times. Not a lot though. I spill a couple of drops into the bottle but not bad. I know what your saying about speed through that stuff too. At the beginning I had a good flow but a couple of get offs, energy getting sapped, the "plan" goes out the window...it's bulldog time.
Great stuff ! But on my 510, not so much. The WR with trials tires, perhaps. Montesa, thats the ticket You would drag me out on a stretcher if I tried that on the 510. Thanks for sharing.
How does a guy get invited to ride that secret spot with you next time? Especially a guy with brand new LT racing suspension on his TE 450? It should be here in 1 week! How did the bike do since it has been hooked up to Ibeat?
I guess it would be the least I could do Tim. I'm pretty sure I don't want to ride your bike when you get the legs back on. Anywho's the bike's been much better since the adjustment. Richened it up just a tad down low and that "appears" to be doing the trick. I had it up at the Michaux Dual Sport ride last weekend and not one, well one but it was my fault, flame out!
