2 stroke oil in 4 banger fuel

A Husky/Yammy dealer told me that these bikes have 2 comp rings and an oil ring. The top comp ring can run a bit dry in the lube department and hasten ring and bore wear. This shop also races the bikes and they do the following.
Put in 50 mills of fully synthetic 2 stroke oil to every 10 litres of fuel.
This not only protects the bore and rings providing longer life it also helps cushion the valves and valve seats. The cushioning eliminates the need to use expensive valve addatives as well. Net net a good result. I honestly believe that my 06 TE 450 feels a tad smoother. I understand that Hondas and KTMs only have one comp ring and dont need this, however one ring set ups loose longevity V's 2 ring set ups I believe.

Give it a whirl and lets share your findings.

PS.Don't use 4 stroke oil as it really fouls the plugs very quickly-its not designed to burn as much as 2T oil.

Not on the bike bit I have been running 2T (mineral) in my Nissan Diesel for about a year now. 200ml to (a tank) 83lt.

I use Lucas upper cyl. lube. With the poor lubrication in todays fuel I would think this has to help greatly. I use it in all my bikes and my 4t snowmobile.

This is something that's been done by many for a long time, mainly in road racing. The hot set-up use to be a little bit of Castor based oil mixed into the fuel. Most modern synthetic 2T oils are an ester based, Castor like molecule anyway, so it's about the same.

But you gotta love that castor oil smell : )

I run Amsoil 2 stroke outboard oil in my gas tank for my 4 stroke bikes.
The outboard oil burns super clean as it is designed for outboards that do alot of slow trolling so it is engineered to resist plug fouling.

The Lucas stuff is good too but runs a little dirty.

I am assuming it must be a really lean ratio like 200:1 or so?

what about injection on the 08 09s? would it still spray properly through the injector?

Yes the ratio recommended is 50 mills per 10 litres. Its a good question about the efi bikes-does any one out there know if it works for them as well. Also note that the oil also helps with valve and valve seat wear so its a double whammy effect.

Marvel Mystery oil and 2 cycle oil, has been run for years though injectors. Search a bit and you'll find it's as controversial as 'what oil should I run'.

The ethanol content in pump gas may very well be a good reason to add a little 'upper cylinder lubricant'. 1oz per 5 gal, 640:1.

As lairpost pointed out, it's a somewhat controversial issue, like any oil question, but most run ratios of +200:1 and it seems to have no effect on EFI.

I run 25-30cc/1oz. to 2 gallons of Marvel Mystery Oil for my '08 TC 510 and '07 TC 450...been doing it for years with my Bergs, VOR's,etc....seems to work well.

I run it 300 to 1 which is 16.88 cc per gal.

Since there are 30 cc per oz.

that means that you would have to put in 2.813 ozs for 5 gallons of gas or 84.38 cc
