    Hi All,

The latest addition to the stable, supposedly bought for spares to support other husky projects but just coudn't do it. Here's my weekend in a few pics. Never ridden a 410, only 510's and 610's wonder what it'll be like ?

PS photos in two batches. First pic is as bought, then stripped it to fit in the boot (sorry trunk) of the car. Then couldn't bear to build it up without powder coating the frame....(and footrests, and engine plates, and cam covers....) haven't even run it yet. Looks good though!

Next batch of photos. Need a few spares ie Clutch cable, air filter, chain, front sprocket, guides and rollers. All ordered and should be up and running at the weekend. Ride report hopefully next post as long as the weather warms up....

I have been looking at the pictures and I believe your bike is not a 2000 model. It looks like someone updated the plastic. I see the blue coil and the CDI mounted on the triple clamp and that ignition configuration was not used in 2000. The CDI and coil should be 1 piece not 2. The 2000 ignition was an upgrade from 3 piece set up used from 1995 to 1999.

I guess it must be a 1999 model then ? The original road registration docs do show first registration in Jan 2000 but its entirley poss that it was a 99 but unsold in 99 and first reg'd by the selling dealer in Jan 2000 ? I have 1998 TE610 whch has the 'right side up' 50mm Marzocchi's, this bike has 45mm inverted Marzocchi forks so hence the thought its a 99 model. Thanks for the heads up. Do you know if any models had black plastics as standard ?

Couldn't get it fired up at weekend, compression seems quite low when kicking. Have stripped and cleaned carb and checked valve clearances, all looks good. I will try again at the weekend. DM

    Some of the SM610's were black, here's a 2000.

Ignition woes but finally it's running, first kick .... when I finally figured out what was wrong with the ignition.

Built the bike up as above but completly lifeless when I tried to start it. I did check for a spark when building the bike up and seemed to have a reasonable spark but on checking again it was dead.

I hadn't heard this bike running before and was begining to think I bought another duffer but went down route of poor earths as I've had the frame powder coated. All checked out OK, just occcasionally I would get a spark when starting fault finding but then it would disappear until left until the next day, but nothing really consistent AND REALLY ANNOYING.

Checked and double checked wiring, all looked OK. So started the usual fault finding route, fortunatley I have another working bike to swop bits around from :

    1. Kill switch - fine.
    2. Swopped coil - no change
    3. Swopped electronics box - no change
    4. Swopped igintion stator - bingo sparks again.

I thought these later ducati stators were supposed to be better ????......changed quite a few SEM ones on older four stokes. Another 200 quid or so against the wall.Started looking around internet for spare stators and came across this video from Paul Thomas at Taliesinracing:

Husqvarna TE/SMR/TC WXE 410/610/570/630 Ignition Problems.
Having difficulty with backfiring, misfiring and poor starting and rough running with any left kickstart 4 stroke Husqvarna?
It's about magnets coming loose in the flywheel but what really caught my eye was that it was my bike...Green grips and all...at least I know it was running not long ago.

I checked my flywheel with the other bike and sure enough the magnets had been properly expoxied back into the flywheel, I guess that problem shouldn't happen to mine now.

At least it was running now (actually very well) with the swopped stator but as I started to check the 'broken stator' for identity nos etc to make sure I bought the right spare I noticed some heat damage on the nylon braiding where it passes up the frame tube between the two exhausts. So I stripped back all the sleeving and found some damage to the insulation. The individual wires actually took some prising apart having been moulded together by the heat and once all seperated into individual conductors the stator was once again producing sparks. I heat sleeved all conductors and looks like were back in business. I hope the photos show what happened. Just might be worth checking before you lob that stator.

1999 ? TE410 in MX trim in black with Monster graphics.

Finished pics, ready run at the track soon, at least I'll be back riding whilst the 89 TC's get done. Guess I might get the flywheel cover powder coated black and put some carbon fibre sticky sheet over the airbox ...maybe.

First outing at the track, bike and rider returned in tact. Rode at our local practice track today, Stalker MX run by Chris Walker. It's near Grantham UK just off the A1 at Gonerby Moor. A good track well maintained and survivable by all classes. Had a problem in the last session when the back brake started to bind really badly, to point of lock up as it got really hot. Freed off when it cooled but guess I'll be stripping /replacing the slave cylinder, can you still get seal kits ?

Otherwise bike ran a treat, liked the motor a lot very easy to get in with and felt in control (well most of the time). I put some new forks on at the last minute as I manage to pick up a brand new set of Marzzochi forks very cheap on ebay. They are probably off a supermotard version as they were about 20 mm shorter than the stock ones but will do whilst the originals are at Progressive Suspension being serviced. I slid them well down the triple clamps and it seemed to handle OK.

Forgotten just how good blasting round a decent MX track is, (it's been a while), but think my body will make me pay for it tommorow.

Here's the last set of pics of the bike (with carbon sheet on air box/ blacked flywheel cover) of this thread, back to the 510 TC 89's resto for me.

    Good work there!
I know the feeling. I just got a few spare parts to maintain my current bike (TE410E), and now I'm looking at them and trying to figure what it would take to build a whole new one(SM610E)... ;)

Nice to see an afficionado. Inspiring. BTW (if you know anything about Husky electrics) do you know what is the type of the 3-pin connector for the 3-phase coming off the stator? The other wire, excitor and pick-up, uses a Sumitomo whose type I know (I've put it up in a thread somewhere). But the 3-way doesn't seem to be of the same family. Any ideas?

I always try to use original connectors for interoperability.
