    I just bought a 2004 TE250 with 30 miles. The bike is brand new.. I'm the 3rd owner, the first owner bought it as a left over in the crate years back and sold it last year. The second owner spent most of his time trying to get it street legal and had to sell because he moved out of state... I picked up the bike for 2k

    Few questions on the bike, I'm aware of the valve issues (I have the seperate compression perch) so I'll keep an eye on it and replace valves when needed.. The bike runs a bit choppy right now in lower gears and when I nail the throttle the bike hesitates then pops, not smooth at all.. Some say I should just clean the carb because the bike has prob been sitting for a while. Others suggest sending the carb to Hall's Cycles for the accerlerator pump modification and proper jets.. The orgianlly owner apprently had it jetted by a GNCC mechanic. Any suggestions on this?

    Another issue is the suspension, I'm 5'8 155 LBS.. The bike seems a little tall and hard.. Do you know what weight rider this bike is set up for out of the box? I'm new with suspension setup. Any suggestions on cliker settings? I plan on adjusting the sag.. I want to lower the bike with a link but being told to wait till the suspension settles..

    I'm also being told I should replace the starter moter idle gear with the 04 TE450 gear....

    Any suggestions on this bike will be very helpful.. First time husky owner and 4 stoke owner, going from a KTM 250 EXC.....

    Man, that's pretty! I've got an 04 as well. Halls carb mod cleaned up the idle to 1/4 throttle stutter for me.

    So you were happy with Hall's work and recommend it? I see you got the larger after market tank.. How is that?

    If it's been sitting for a long time, cleaning the carb is very important. The Halls mod is well worth it if that doesn't solve the problem. As to your suspension, I think the stock springs are too heavy for you depending on your riding ability. There is a lowering link available, Fox Motorsports in Utica-Terry- has one on his bike.
    Fran and Harvey at Bottones/Ace suspension can explain how to set the suspension and give you the right springs. So can Drew Smith of WER. Both are Northeast guys and know the terrain.
    the starter gear update is a very good idea because you can ruin the starter gear itself and that's a bit more expensive. I think an '05 starter gear is the upgrade-again you can ask Fran- He sells Husky's.
    Do you have the owners manual? that has suspension settings and adjustments in it. Someone has it to download but i can't find it.
