just noticed a leak coming from on top of the gear box behind the starter, any ideas where its coming from? I'm just curious if there is a common issue that might send me in the right direction, thanx

Common, snug up the case bolts and it should go away.

+1 on checking case bolts as they can loosen up a bit and leak.

What case bolts are you talking about, do I have to take off the case covers to get to them?

I pulled out my coolant reservoir and starter to have a good look and snugged up the case bolts that were visible when the parts were removed. Problem solved. 10 min job, pretty easy.

Mine weeps a little there too. I quit worrying about it. Be careful tightening bolts, we bottomed that one out and a machinist friend had to get it out!
