Stage two time for my 08 TE-610 Which will include... Power commander V and auto tune. Les doing his magic front and rear and comp adjusters front New Seat from our sponsors.... and importantly a Slip On Exhaust... Reading all the posts and it appears that the Leo Vince may be the one... but would like the herds input as to which ones based on my requirements. 1. Quiet (loud dont work with this old guy) 2. Spark Arrested 3. Loose weight over stock 4. flow better. Arrow? Leo? I know George has one, but everyone states its louder than stock = loose option........unless thats not the case (George????) FMF doesnt make one it appears, nor does anyone else that I can find other than the three listed (Kelly just emailed me and said they no longer have slip ons for the TE-610 (at least my year)) Thanx!! HR
I would advise you to stick with stock. I bought my Leo off another guy that was hoping it would be quiet with the quiet core. It's all subjective, but quiet it is not.
are you still running the LV? did you gut the stock (CAT converter?) Considering you did this what would you do again, or do the same thing and stick with the LV? HR
This thread may answer some of your questions. http://www.cafehusky.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3190&highlight=dawg
I think I confused you. The guy I bought the LV from thought it was wayyy too noisy, even with the quiet core. I heaved the factory exhaust AND the LV quiet core in the dumpster. Me likem noisy!!!
Don't get a Leo. lol It's far from quiet. I love it though and I have hated every slip on on a single from a KLR650 to a KTM640. It just sounds right on my Husky.
Here is what turned up when I Googled that question: "By state regulation, motorcycles manufactured in or after 1979 cannot exceed a noise level of 84 decibels (dB) when traveling more than 35 mph on a paved street or highway."
Yeah, but even where I live in Connecticut, which has about the most bored and uptight cops in the country, I don't get bothered for my Uptite can, or even my itty, bitty LED blinkers, and I have cops around me often enough. Of course now that I just opened my big fat mouth...... But then again, I don't go hulliganin and wheeleing down main st either.
I live in California and I was stopped for a license plate light out - at night. If you drive up behind a vehicle at night with your headlights on, how can you tell if their license plate light is out? I got a fix it ticket for that and was stopped for an exhaust on one of my street bikes.
in high school I got a broken headlight ticket at 12:30 PM on a clear sunny day. When they are looking for a reason to mess with you, they will find one.
exactly.. so why stress about a Db here or there? It's not gonna stop a cop that is intent on stopping you. they'll always use the "weaving" or "failure to maintain lane" excuse for a stop. It's their word vs. yours. And Re the plate light, I also was stopped for that at night when I was 16. That and the other excuses, esp. at night are just a way to look for DUI's and other violations..With all the mufflerless Harleys running around I def. don't Db count.
call George, maybe he can make you a real quiet one or at least give you the information to help you make a choice.
I don't know if he's made them yet but the newer endcaps are drilled and tapped to allow for a turndown tip
