well the post surgery break is really now in full swing. from fully assembled to very disassembled in a couple of hours. My 2008 TXC450 has @ 200 hours, this is the first motor o-haul. the cams look good, the cyl has a few scatches fore and aft where the piston skirts are. the head has some carbon build up and maybe some valve bypass, the piston looks good (has carbon on crown) with only slight wear on the skirts and is displaying some ring blowby discoloration. The bottom end (big end ) appears very good with no play at all. I will just do a top end rebuild and full bike clean up and lube.
BIG NOTE which has been mentioned here. inspect and lube your linkage bearings,,,maybe even as much as monthly depending on ride conditions, we ride mostly in dryer conditions but this winter has seen alot of stream crossings, my bearings really need grease. and I have repacked them @ 5 times since new (from Feb08). DONT forget the swingarm bearings as well (mine were.......embarrassingly not good)
I will try to snap a few shots of the carcass.
Have used only Maxima lubes (silver label before) and now only red label Maxima per GP motos AMA SUper Moto racing machines, motor internal is very clean and wear is minimal

In between grease service. I spray castrol chain lube in the joints after washing. I also spray the swing arm joints. When I pull everything apart the bearings are all greased up with the lube. I never bought a bearing again since starting this a few years back..

I found with all the winter riding i do the bearings get toast no matter what I do so i just let them go and replace as needed. I do gob them up with Belray waterproof stuff before i ride them though. Usually end up replacing stuff about every year.

This chain lube is not sticky and it's light (liquid). Gets in there and pushes the water out.

I give every pivot point a squirt of WD40 after washing or after a day of riding in water holes. Keeps those wheel bearings and suspension bearings in top shape. Have done this for 4 years now. Haven't had to replace a bearing once in that time.

Good stuff. We all worry about the bearings and forget about the seals (which are doing all the hard work). There are lots of little spaces in the sussy linkage that trap dirt which can saw away at those seals. The exposed ends of the bearing inners / spacers can corrode too, which distorts / damages the seals and lets moisture and contaminants in. A few drops of the slippery stuff will keep the dirt and corrosion at bay. Grease isn't good on the outside as it tends to attract dirt and it all gets kinda abrasive. Whoops, talking shop again...

Anyways robertaccio, it's great to hear that you (and the bike) are doing well. Pictures would be good though!

will be installing ZipTY high back chain buffer to cut down on the "pro-squat" suspension loading under acceleration. I needed a new one anyway.
My Carb mod AC pump O ring was broken upon inspection so that will be replaced ( my JD jetted and PN/PN plus carb is still spot on and will only need cleaning)

I am working on getting all my bearings for the swingarm/rocker and tie rod suspension bits. ANd a new piston and rings.

I am replacing my clutch push rod to keep things tight, the original one has a nice imprint in it from the slave cylinder piston ball, and I am installing a small o-ring onto the pushrod (per GP Supermoto team manager) on the slave end to dampen vibes on the floating push rod. My 7602 piston will be installed into my new ZipTy CNC slave cylinder for more bullet proofing as well.

I just installed a new front disc to replace the visibly bent one from the last rockfest at the Tecate Hammer Down ride. (anyone want see/do a real technically/challenging ride???)
Got a new rear tire as well, Pirelli Scorpion Pro FIM 140/80 Balloooooon FIM enduro rubber, my fave for the ugly stuff. If I can (through some connections) I will run a GoldenTyre Mousse for a personal trial. Also looking to ride a GoldenTyre front FIM enduro comp tire (its built like a Scorp with more grip everywhere). (photos are coming)

Looking like it's been ridden pretty softly, jk. Seriously- Wow! Nice to see the wear marks from real riding in the rocks/desert. How close is the swingarm damage to limits? Lots of hits there it would seem. I see your BRP chain guide is holding up well in that environment, at least from an outside view. I can't find a down side to the design compared to stock, so far. Mine's holding up very well in our conditions.

Glad to see you're healing up. Thanks for the pics and write up.
