OK, Just purchased my new (well new to me) 2009 Te610 with a whopping 1,500 K's on the clock. It has the lamda sensor removed but today when i took it for its first real run, it appeared down on power to what i expected. Wont lift in second gear even when popping the clutch and toped out in 6th gear at 120KMH???? Its running 15/45 gearing. Have i bought a dud or was i expecting too much. My last bike was a f650gs and even though it was 40 KG's heavier, it would still lift in second with some encouragement and hit 160 without much trouble.???? When reving it through the gears it seems to have a flat spot and then clears up higher in the revs...Not sure if this is normal? I hear people saying their 610's do 150-160KMH... What should I look at first? Thanks in advance..
Please excuse my ignorance but could it be the 02 sensor was removed but the restirctor plug thingy not installed into the wireing connector? Just a thought....
It needs the resistor to be plugged in for the ECU to know to go into comp mode. Now it is all screwed up because it is looking for 02 readings and there is no sensor.
My 630 tops 180 kmh (gps checked speed). Think it could do more but the wind´d blow me off (and the sheep didn´t like it one bit)
Just put the power-up kit on mine last week. VERY NICE! Not sure about top speed, but this thing pulls everywhere now.
+1 My top speed on the 610 is 104MPH (167KPH) Even geared way down it's easily capable of 90 (144) I think I'd be checking the throttle/throttle body and make sure it's not binding or something.
OK, so we all agree i have a problem. I haven;t checked if the resistor is in place, it was only a thought before i pulled the tank off. Any other suggestions on what the problem might be or should i just take it to the dealer and let them sort it. Its still under warranty.....
my 08 with 14/45 gearing, Leo pipe and resistor in place runs up to 90mph but I weigh 217lbs sound about right???
OK, No asnwer as yet but a few things have been ruled out. Firstly, the dealer plugged it into the ibeat and straight away it showed a faulty water temp sensor (so i am told) that was reading 150 degrees even when engine was cold so this was causing the hard starting and im told it would also make it run like crap because it tries to cut power due to the ECu thinking its overheating??? Anyway, new sensor arrives and is installed. Apparently it now starts perfectly and seems to rev fine but it is idling rough and the dealer cant seem to rectify the idle. Aparently it is idling quite low. Next, we checked the valve clearances and all vales are perfect in spec. Checked the fuel pump and its filter is clean and the pressure is measured correctly on output. The dealer takes it for a ride up the street and agree's with me that it has a serious issue and is still way down on power. He believe's it feels like fuel starvation but the pump checked out OK? He is now suspecting a faulty ECU?????? but aparently if it is, then i have a 3 week wait for one to come from Italy as there are no spare in Australia.... Any thoughts are welcome because the dealer has now had my bike longer than i have PS. Besides the valve clearance check, everything else has been covered under warranty so at least thats one good thing....
Just got an update from the dealer. they are putting a warranty claim in for a gear position sensor (?) and if that doesnt fix it, they are going to order a new ECU (although this will take 3 weeks)...... and if that doesnt fix it, they will replace the entire wiring loom Couldnt they put it on a stand and check the gear position sensor via the ibeat or something????
OK, Dealer just rang me. They have changed the gear position sensor and the bike is exactly the same. Now they are going to replace the ECU which means i have to wait 2-3 weeks before 1 comes into the country....If that doesnt work, they are talking about a new wiring loom. I can't help but think its a fuel problem but i have been assured the fuel pump has been tested... ???? any thoughts?
yeah, well I'm not sure the fuel pump can test 'bad' all the time. Does the bike run poorly consistently? Mine would run great for hours and then sputter and die. My pump ran great... until it didn't and it took MONTHS before it finally actually seized up. Though, there's not too much to be done I guess, it sounds like they are really trying. But a pump would surely be easier to try than before rewireing the bike. Isn't there ANYONE with a 610 remotely close to you that would let you swap pumps? It's a10 minute operation.
I had the same problem with my carbureted TE 610. It'd run fine then it would bog down and run like it was fuel starved. I traced the problem down to a pinched breather tube that was plugged into the frame. It was sill open enough to run but not well... I'm pretty sure your bikes motor breaths into the frame too. If I were you I'd go with my instincts and check for air/fuel starvation. I'd start at the petcock and check everything right into the motor, making sure everything is clear and flowing.I'd do the same thing for the air, starting at the air box and running all the way through to the exhaust pipe.
The bloke i speak to at the dealer has been pretty nice all along and I don;t want to tell him how to suck eggs. I just don;t think he has another 610 in the shop at the moment to swap parts with….. Also, i think the dealer has to replace parts in a specific order in order to have his time paid for by head Husky as its all under warranty…. Its also idling roughly and apparently no matter what the dealer does, he cant get it to idle high, it's idling way too low…. Apparently even changing the ibeat maps aren't changing the the idle?? In neutral it revs very crisp and hard and sounds perfect but just is gutless when you ride it..
