2009 Txc 250 won't shift up, help

    I replaced a broken shifter shaft, started riding the bike, it shifted thru all gears fine, rode about 10 miles and in the last mile it will only go into first and neutral, right side cover is off and everything looks fine but the sprocket doesn't seem to be engaging the drum up to 2nd. Any ideas?
