Yeah, I was curious if they were going to be? I had heard a while back that that was the plan, to be ready for the outdoor Nationals...... Just curious. Blake
Seems like a legitimate question to me. It is in the racing section and everything. Maybe put your question back in your 1st post? Otherwise a moderator might delete it. Or feel free to delete your 1st post and the thread should disappear. This thread is in the twilight zone at the moment.
What does it take to get the Homologation ? 100 bikes+parts here in the USA and some paper work? I think you would need to ask Husqvarna USA to find out if they have been or not.
http://www.amadirectlink.com/rulebooks/2009/AMA_Racing_Rulebook09_MXVersion.pdf let's keep up the info, as we find it.
The list for the SX season is not finalized at the moment, this is directly from the AMA. MX sports is the body for outdoor. email is sent in to MX sports (the promoting org) (AMA is still kind of sanctioning body) for the current homologated models list for the 2010 outdoor MX season. Will keep y'all posted on the response. They are using the AMA rulebook for regulations which give them (MFGRs) into March for processing.
For people that do not want to download it, that is the "2009 AMA Racing Rulebook", from page 10: 2. For a motorcycle/minicycle to be approved, the manufacturer must apply to the AMA, register the machine’s specifications, provide photographs and prove that 100 identical, completed machines of the same model are available for sale to the general public at multiple dealer showrooms throughout all six AMA regions. AMA staff will verify production requirements. Application forms for motorcycle/minicycle approval are available from the AMA. The approval procedure for the following model year will open August 15 and must be completed no later than the following March 15. a. Manufacturers and distributors must have a sufficient quantity of spare parts to meet customer’s demand for a minimum of the current model year being approved. Any parts determined to be inadequate in design or construction may be upgraded by the OEM approval process, as defined by the AMA staff, and must be submitted no later than June 15 of the model year. AMA may require one unit of each approved model and/or upgraded part(s) to be provided for long-term parts comparison.
Oh Jeez, here we go again! This is precisely the reason why I seek out mostly NON-AMA sanctioned races (outlaw) for Cody to participate in. The AMA is a behemoth feeding upon itself and the minions who are willing to prop it up. If it went away tomorrow, I would jump back-flips in celebration, and we would have just as much fun at the outlaw races... NO... we'd have MORE fun! Just like we always have.
I raced the Husqvarna TC 450 through all my AMA District races this year without an issue. It is not an issue at the amateur level, only does this homologation issue apply to the Professional level....I THINK Could be wrong, but never had an issue with AMA other than at the Pro Nationals. Peace. Blake
Again depends on the series, Nat H&H even pro level no issue for example, but for the "F1" of moto the MX Nationals AMA homologation is required as Blake knows and as GP Motos found out a while back.
Yes the rule is for MX/SX. It's up too Husqvarna to apply so if anyone want to race in these events you need to contact Husqvarna and ask them if they are going to or not.
If I remember the story correctly.....When someone like Lamson or Chiody? guy was racing the next year AMA raised the amount of bikes that needed to be brought in for homologation. I can get you the proper story if needed. Basically though it was too many for Husky to be able to sell as it stands today.
FYI, direct from MX sports the 2010 homologation list for both am and pro machines is still in work. FYI as well (Alessio "Chicco" Chiodi) (KEE Co KEE O Dee) 3 time 125cc MX world champ
I had no idea barriers like this were out there and sounds like nazis to me...What are they doing but crapping on any little guy out there and for what? Maybe they love those rice $$ and don't want to have those rice $$$ ruffled Thanks for posting this as like I said, I had no idea this was an issue with racing...I though you showed up, paid the $$, and went to gassing it over the whoops ... I had been wondering why no privateer was on a Husky...guess this answers that one... If you look at the SX\MX stuff...we the people are self-supporting it. As an example, just look around any where and you will see almost ZERO advertising for it BUT 40-60 thousand people go the events? We, the fans, do all the heavy lifting. Look at the Carmichael & Stewart dual a couple years back. The greatest of all time against another guy who could race with him and unless you are a MX/SX fan and went and searched for what was happening, you never heard or saw anything about it, you never saw anything in the main stream about it. AMA is really a joke on a lot of levels, ESP that official website (amateur hour coding) ...too bad they don't have any competition because this is what happens with no competition in any sport or business... PS -- If you read that reg , part (a) about the parts (laughable) really sounds pin pointed at keeping the racing ranks to a specific group and who is the 'god' that verifies a 'sufficient quantity of spare parts' ? This is laughable ... Can someone please get BMW on the line and tell them the ama elites needs some euros
If something like this is true, they are afraid to let anything but a rice burner in their pretty little races...This is where BMW can park their big fat deep euro pockets and the ama elites will bend over and start kissing our Husky buts. We gonna kick some JAP butts in the near future on the speed channel!!
I see your point, however the rule was put in place to help the little guy not crap on him. Before the rule was put in place the big factory guys ran true "works" bikes, one off examples of technology. They were high, high dollar machines that were lite weight and fast.. This separated the factory guys from even the best non-factory race teams. Thus the rule was put in place in order to level the field. From a development perspective, it would be interesting to see where works bikes would be now if they were still allowed. Imagine a bike made from special alloys, titanium and and carbon fibre.
Interesting..the ringer rule? I can see that in some vague way...It is alot of words to accomplish a single task. I can also see that if a rule is bias against other possible entries, ESP smaller companies, then a more intelligent rule should be put in place. That is if it is in the interest of the sport...But then if you are making plenty of yen..I mean $$ .. why risk a good thing and allow others to play? From a development perspective, why not make it now...Who is stopping them? They have the yen and could ride it at half time at the SB and all the rice burner fans would all love it and want it for their very own and they would all praise this marvel... I'm just a country boy from the non-great state state of arkansas...I could not care less about a million dollar JAP bike. I'd settle for seeing any Husky in any SX or MX race and finish any place other than on the ground.
