hello, I'am a new member at cafe husky,I currently race a 2009 ktm 125sx in mx, I was interested in picking up a 2010 husky cr125 to race, does anyone have any feed back on this motorcycle, like good points or bad points,I once owned a 2007 tc510, had to off it because I had alot of little problems with the bike(dnfed 1 out of 2 motos)but overall liked the bikes handling and power, it was also nice to work on for a 4stroke, so I'am a little nervous about picking up a new husky and have since given up on the whole 4 stroke craze, any info on this bike would be great, thanks:applause:

Welcome to CH. I can't speak on the 10 CR125 but I have the 08 Cr125 and love the bike. Fastest 125 I have ever ridden. I do feel after riding a friends 09 WR 125 Husky that the newer frames feel better than the 08 which I didn't think was possible. The brakes and general feel of the newer Husky's are also improved IMO. Bottom line I think you will be more than happy with a Husky CR125; awesome bikes. As you may know there are 144 kits for the 125's if you need more.

there are a lot of CR/WR 125 lovers here on this site. I just installed a 144 kit on my 09 WR125 and could not be more happy.

i really enjoy my 06 wr144 off road.

that said im not sure how much i would like it for mx. the gear box might be the biggest draw back on a mx track. i think the cr and wr share the same gear box too. the gears are a bit gapped, which i like in the woods and for enduros.

the other thing you may notice is the husky is a bit heavier then the ktm. i dont really notice it jumping from my wr to my 200xc. but it is there.

the husky IMHO has a better handling suspension out of the box.

engines are both very well built on both bikes from what ive seen. had a whole year on my 144 (125BB), took the bike apart to rebuild the bottom and top end. i could have left the cases together, everything looked great. replaced it all and now i have some spares should i ever need them.

i wish i could tell you how long a stock topend lasts but i do not have one, i have the eric gorr setup. with what im running and how i ride, i could put a new piston in at the beginning of the season. ring it half way through and finish the rest of the year out running harescrambles. add in some play riding in there too.

being an mxer im sure youve learned how to service a topend and youll likely go through more then 2 a year. ringing it cost about 40-50 dollars. pistons for eg are about 115 after you buy gaskets and o-rings.

    hope this helped.

I believe the frame and several other parts like the smaller rear rotor etc make the 09 and up noticeably lighter than the 07 and older generations.

we have a couple of '10 CR's, probably done about 50 hrs on them and still love them. (done over 200 hrs on our '08's)
Not really sure if the Kayaba's are any better than the Marzocchi's on the 09.
Have ridden a '10 KTM sx150 which sure had a nice motor but horrible "stinkbug" handling (I suppose you can do something about it?) compared to the Husky.
A lot of our friends have YZ125's which are great bikes but feel and look dated compared to the Husky.
The Husky feels very nimble and "accurate" but also stable at speed and through ruts. Nice strong 125 "hit" probably has come at the expense of some bottom end but it's worth it. I think a lot of the "bog" problems are more with the wr's?
Only problem so far is cracking around weld of silencer to pipe (stainless steel) and seem a bit prone to developing exhaust leaks after minor crashes.
Improvements on 09; new plastics, repositioned lower radiator pipes (clear expansion chamber better) and shock reservoir horizontal (looks cool).
    You should get one!
