http://www.etra.net/funkychicken.html June 19-20 in Elkton, OR The Funky Chicken rides again. This is a great event in a great location and it supports our hometown riding club, Emerald Trail Riders Association (ETRA)
One of the most memorable hare scrambles events to do on the west coast. The numerous grass tracks, fast down hills and NO rocks. I might be up there for that one.
I rode it last year and it totally kicked my butt! No rocks but lots of roots, ruts, dust, long steep up and down hills, log piles and slick grass. It is an epic ride!
I managed to ping pong my head off of two small trees on both sides of the trail a couple years ago. Timed it just right
Yup. I woke up flat on my back 3 feet off the trail laying in the blackberry bushes last year. The blackberry bushes had me suspended off the ground and I was so hung up in them I couldn't roll over to get my feet to the ground. I know now what a turtle feels like on its back! A nice Husaberg rider stopped and helped me out.... Ya gotta love them logs! Me after the race: (hurting!)
Conditions are looking good for the Funky Chicken. 3 days of sunshine in a row, breezy and low 70s. More sunshine forecast this weekend. If the weather trend holds the course will be awesome.
Kind of bummed, can't make the Funky Chicken, bike is apart and don't know when I'll get the part back...
I want to go, but I was just driving through Elkton a few days ago and dont feel like driving it again. Plus its a stupid AMA sanctioned event, which is another $50 on top of everything else. Plus my WR is in pieces. Lastly, I'm too much a procrastinator to come to a conclusion. Maybe I'll put a knobby on the Kawi and go
Not to steal your thunder, but I'll rent out a brand new '09 WR 250 or 300 for $300 a day plus damages. It would be nice to let someone else break in the suspension! I remember the '95's. Nothing wrong with the chassis or engine, but oh how that suspension does not compare to todays standards. . Yikes.... Looks like the tires are all in as well. You don't want to ride the Big K grass track on anything but sharp, brand new soft terrain tires.
Ha ha ha... dude I was jokeing, note the . But thanks for stealing my non sale. As for the suspension my buddy with the 07 WR250 has tried to trade me since the day he first rode it. The Showa stuff is hands down better on the trail IMHO. Tires are Motoz Terrapactors and just climbed all the nasty slick clay at Ginger, and climbed it well. I can't believe you did not mention the chain!!! It does not turn as sharp, everywhere else I like it just as much as the current model. More tractable motor in the slick stuff too yet powerful. I personally would have no issues racing FC on this. Check post #39 here about 3/4 the way down. http://www.cafehusky.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11589&page=2 Anyway...
Just went to the Post office to see if Motosportz returned my dampner and it wasn't there. Oh well no Funky Chicken for me....
No chicken for me either Will be doing the Devils Head ISDE this weekend though, so I do have something to smile about. I'll be camping @ Lost Lake 07-22 thru 07-25 and am going to try to bring a bike, but not sure how yet as I'll be towing a boat. If I manage to get a bike down do you want to ride? Or if that fails come to Lost Lake for some boating, bbq and beers
