so my TE250 has the brake light on all the time. The micro switch on the front brake lever is working correctly but I'm not sure the rear tail light switch is functioning. I took the switch off the rear brake master cylinder and hit it with brake cleaner and air. I can depress the internal pressure switch with the flat end of a drill bit so I think that is working but can't really tell. Really not sure how to diagnose this without just buying another rear brake switch, which of course is a phone call to Hall's.

Unplug each switch and test them separately, use a continuity tester if you want to get extra-fancy.

Also - most often we see people put the incorrect front brake lever on, and while the switch functions properly, the lever doesn't contact the switch to open the circuit and deactivate the light. Just something to double-check.

A worn through wiring harness could do it too.
