I'm hoping that this info helps someone in the same way that other's posts here have helped me.

I finally broke down and spent the money on a Safari tank. My esteemed spousal unit decided she didn't want me riding any more with a gallon or two of gas slung over my shoulder. Overall is seems well built. I've emailed Just Gas Tanks about the fitment issues. They thanked me for the info, and asked for clarification on the seat issue as they hadn't heard of it before. I have no complaints about them. I expect some "issues" with aftermarket stuff like this.

This has nothing to do with the Safari tank, but is something those with stock tanks might want to check for. I ran out of gas awhile ago when I though I had enough to make it to the gas station. Yeah, I was cutting it close. The fuel pump inside the stock tank had ridden up 1/2"+ as others have experienced. I knew to check for it thanks to some posting about it here. I called George at Uptite and this is how he advised me to secure it. I didn't take pic's of it before pushing it back down into place.

The first pic shows it safety wired with the old zip tie in place.

This one shows it with the two new zip ties as George suggested. One to hold tight against the pump, housing, and safety wire. Another to hold the electrical wires. I trimmed the part of the white plastic housing that I felt was excess and only in the way. I believe it's there for a different application than this bike/tank/pump/etc.

I also had to relocate the turn signals. The tank hit them in their stock location. This is a fix in progress. I made mounts from some sheet aluminum I had in the garage. I'm virtually certain I'll be needing to come up with something better, stronger, etc. I moved them to the upper triple clamp using the existing bolt at the top of the forks. These pics just show how they hit the tank in the stock position when the bars are turned.

The seat not fitting was an unexpected issue, but not a major one as it was easy to deal with. The post on the Safari tank was about 1/2"+ too far to the rear. The first pic shows the lock screw at the rear of the seat unable to engage the lock (it's where the tops of the pop rivets are).

This pic shows that I was able to cut enough out of the seat pan to allow the seat to move forward enough for the lock screw to be engaged.
