Well been going back and forth on adding a 2010 TXC250 or TC250 to the stable and have some observations and questions.
Seems to me the new TXC250 is more in line with it's TE sibling ala cooling fan,F/I,electric start and such then the TC just from a visual viewpoint no?
I've compared the two(TXC & TC)next to one another and while they are similiar there are some differences besides the carb vs F/I.The weight difference is noticable for sure as the TXC with the added weight of F/I,electric start and cooling fan has a few pounds on the feathery TC.I guess what my concern is that I want a more nimble/light race chassis feel then the ole heavier trail feel of the earlier 07-09 TEs and I'd hope that the new package would have that in spite of the additional weight from the TC.
I know the chassis they are in is good as I have an '09 CR125 but between the additional weight and characteristic of the thumper engine it harnesses I'm wondering if it'll be more TC like then earlier TEs which imo would make it a great around machine.Sorta like the '09 TXC is to the '09 TE series. What say those who have ridden them?
My dilemna is I could get the TC and love when I track day it but getting it titled is highly unlikely(therefore a totally one dimensional ride)while the TXC is probable tag material but if it's gonna be a big compromise(ala earlier TEs)at the MX track that would be an issue but if it'd be more along the lines of my '09 TXC450 as a crossover machine that would work.
Thanks for any input and feedback you guys can offer.

I haven't ridden the TXC but the TC is a awsome MX track weapon. My son actually took it down some tight trails last weekend just to see how it would work in the trails and he said " it's so light and nimble it works in the trails very well also". BTW his TC250 is much easier to ride fast than my 08 CR125. It also really feels as light on the MX track. I know some members here have the TXC so they can help you on that.

If you're after the lightest 250 in the woods, the TC is you're only choice. If you want a plate. TE or (possibly but not likely) the TXC are your only choices.

It will certainly be a state by state deal as far as a plate goes. Plating it in Montana is a cynch, almost any other state will be tougher. In MT it only requires the mounting of headlight, taillight, brake light, horn, and some form of mirror. I carry my mirror in my pack and never have it on the bike. I have stopped to talk to both sheriffs and Highway patrol and they will not cite you or stop you unless there is a traffic citation as long as you have the working head light/tail light/brake light. Husky does not list for off road use only on the paper work for any of the WR's and I imagine it is the same for the TXC.

If I'm riding in the woods on a four stroke, I want the e-start. So it would be TXC or TE for me.

On the weight thing. I was in the same shoes as you trying to decide all of this. The two things that make the TXC feel heavier IMO is the battery and the silencer. I put a turntech 2.5 battery in mine which lost 4-5 top heavy weight. I have not added a titanium silencer yet but still looking. I am not sure on the fan, it is staying there for now but it rarely comes on so far. I do like having the button but man the TC starts so easy. It's not so much the TXC is closer to the TE line as it is the TE is close to the TC line as well. It's a tough call but there really all good bikes. I did choose the TXC over the TE for the forks instead of the tag.

Honestly the Tag is icing on the cake for both usage and resale and I can get it with the TXC but it's not neccessarily the overriding factor per say as I already have my '09 TXC450 tagged.
For me the only concern I have for the '10 TXC250 is whether it's moto capable ala my '09 TXC450?
I'm getting lazy in my later years and the e-start appeals to me if the TXC is not too much of compromise for some track fun.
I guess what I'm getting it is I'm leaning toward the TXC but not if it's only a woods weapon ala last years TE.If it's like the TXCs of last year then it's no sweat.
Thanks for the feedback thus far.

As far as the motor, it rips. I would not have a problem entering a MX race on it as long as the spring rates were right for me. Take the kickstand off and go. The TXC is a good woods weapon but the motor is lighting quick revving for MX as well.

The TC would be the ultimate performance machine but i chose the TXC for the EFI, E-start, 6 speed and SA muffler. Glad i did. I have 2 full rides on the bike not and it freaking rips / feels very light. The motor is quite healthy and the rest of the package shines bright. You could MX this no problem. The TC is still going to be the stripped down ultimate racer, the TXC is just the EZer to use version of the TC. Dunno about the TE but if it is close tot he TXC is will be excellent.

Thanks guys.I'm headed back for one final comparison and then I guess I just gotta weigh all the pros and cons one last time and pick my poison.
Reckon I can't go wrong whichever direction I go.

It's a tough call for sure but I think your'e right (can't go wrong whichever direction you go". I want the Tc because I do very little trail riding.

I personally am in the same boat as you vntgmx. I currently own a street plated 09 TXC250 (with 300 Athena kit), and am debating between a 2010 TXC 250 or 2010 TC 250. I'm a A level enduro/hs/motocrosser. I personally loved my 09 TXC250, but hated the 50mm zokes. I struggled with them all year and can't say enough how happy I am to see them gone in 2010.

As far as being able to moto a TXC, I think it depends on what level of MX your doing. Personally, I can rip my TXC around the MX track, but its no MX bike. The instant explosive power isn't there and the suspension is no where near aggressive enough. Nor should it be because then it wouldn't be a good woods bike at all. I believe an average beg/nov level MX rider could moto a TXC with little trouble, but for more advanced riders its not going to meet their MX needs. The TXC does a great job of doing what it was intended to do. It rips up trails and grass tracks with a motor that can lug as well as rev to the moon, and you can slam bumps, logs, or ditches with a more aggressive suspension package than on the TE.

With all that said, I was sold on a 2010 TXC 250 until my local dealer (Bottones Jo-Bet Cycles) mentioned that maybe the 2010 TC 250 would be the best fit for me. This got my wheels turning and the debate is on! The TC is a very light weight machine that would be very easily flicked around the tight single track trails. At my riding level, the hotter motor and stiffer suspension should be an advantage (I had to go to heavier springs on my 2009 TXC). The only real draw back to the TC for me is not having the E-start. I did send my 2009 carb out of Watts Perfections to be tuned, and it started and ran flawlessly. I never have used the choke or hot start on my 2009 TXC! So with those same carb mods, maybe not having the magic button is not such an issue. I don't tend to stall much, but an auto-clutch would take care of any stalling fears. Thoughts? Comments??

From a purely performance perspective for a fast a/b rider the TC250 is the ticket but I'm not a fan on racing a thumper in the woods without the magic button.
As you may know when a thumper gets super worked like in a 2 hr scramble and you stall all bets can be off regardless of how easy it normally starts.
Good luck with your decision as both versions of the latest addition of the baby Husky thumper are winners regardless.
