Yep but they might have been able to incorporate some older (but better) technology in this new bike that will actually push it past current bikes ...

We'll have to wait and see on how the bike races before we can tell if any of this new stuff helps the bike in any way ... And the new frame has a bottom cradle on it!

i will have to agree with ozzie, it screams BMW,i just hope the german engineers have no say in the rest of the bike. if so i will be forced to go back to the orange side.

Yep, but U gotta remember ... this is just the beginning of this ownership ... ~3 years into it and even if bmw is pushing this engine and path off on its Husky sibling, it does not mean equivalently that all future products will be based here ...

I still wanna see the race results on this bike ...

My prediction will be same as what was said about the new KTM350, a winner right from the get go, this thing will push to the podium straight away ,in mx and in enduro/offroad.

I think this 350 size bike is on display at GH against the FIM guys from EU ....against several brands of bikes... And it will have a proven PRO on board ... The podium awaits and what a nice spot to showcase a new bike

I think Husky will be there and will do well , but not the new bike ... too bad to miss such a stage

I wish people would not say new engine when it is just the old BMW G450x motor with some miner mods which BMW already had in the pipeline. They haven't even added a front engine mounting. Still says BMW on the side. I know its marketing hype but please?

The proof is in the pudding--i will test ride one when they become available and make a call from there to see if it works for me---I know Husky works for me and yet there a millions of people out there who just hate them ---- maybe i might just be pleasantly suprised--i did ride the 450 BMW hwn they launched them and it was just not what i was looking for so i bought a 450 Te Love it----

I do not like the BMWesque front fender ! Other than that I have no comment yet .

All I can say is that the prototype has certainly raised a lot of comment from the Husky family. Its a hard one to come to grips with at the moment. I think we mostly agree that the current 450/510 needed a revialisation like the 630 and 250's. The bikes are too heavy, the engine whilst very robust are also old technology and also too heavy. I feel the brand of efi was not 100% successful either. The conundrum seems to be that the replacement does not at this stage appear to be too much of a husky development, rather big brother foisting his scantly successful motor onto us.
The early comments appear to indicate that the engine is a revamped version of the BMW 450 G motor (this was entirely necessary by the way) and the frame etc is 100% Husky. I really hope that the final offering is the break out model we all need as the incremental changes from 2004 on have not really put us into the buying publics eye, we have been on the verge of success for ages. This will only happen with a more dynamic frame and engine pairing, stronger MX performances and general success in local areas be it hare scrambles, trail riding or whatever. The reality is that Husky needs to grow its critical mass to be able to spend more on research, try out different concepts etc. I hope they get their act together as KTM continues to develop and move its product line, the major Japs (Yamaha and Honda) can't be too far away from their next major development and the smaller players are nipping at our heels, especially Gas Gas, Sherco, Beta, TM. Clearly there is ample choice out there, none of them are dogs, so Husky needs to produce something worthy of its past to keep existing riders on board and to attract new riders to the clan. Good luck Husky. If I were they I would continually put out snippets of information to dealers, magazines and sites such as this to assuage concerns, build buyer interest, and get a ground swell of demand. Easily and cheaply done as part of the advertising campaign, the cat is out of the bag, now is the time to capitalise on all the comments firing off around the world (positive and negative) and gradually build a book of pent up demand before release.

There is no reason to call that bike a TC, as in relation to the current line of TC machines ... This bike has been raced very little to date and not on a MX course to my knowledge other than some practice laps ...

Until husky gets into MX /SX racing in the usa ... we stay in our same shoes with only small ups and downs till bmw grows weary and makes another business decision .... MX /SX racing is advertising ... These bikes have to be advertised or we stay small ...

ktm is thumping and 2-stroking on all cylinders ... it will take years to surpass them unless something big happens ... GH next weekend will be big 4 them and Tommy Searle is on a homologated, linkage-wearing 2011 KTM 250 SX/F for MX outdoors ... every sale that they take from the asians is a sale taken from Husky also ... read'em and weep

So It looks identical apart from the Tape over the BMW badge. No front engine mounting added, and the same parts list. Same bore and stroke. Same Head etc. etc.

They have designed a completely new engine that looks exactly the same? Engine rotating the wrong way? Clutch still on crank? Concentric sprocket doda thingy watsit?

Please don't take us as idiots... I will wait to see how it performs and sells. I will stick with my existing Husky for now...

Please please don't treat us like Mushrooms...
