I am new to the forum, and I have a quick opinion question. I have been reading every review I can find on the TXC line of husky's preparing myself for a purchase, and the one thing that has been noted repeatedly is the increase in power between 2012 and 2013, and that the 2013 TXC250R feels like it has the same power as the 2012 TXC310.

With that in mind as I get ready to take advantage of the May Husqvarna deals that are out there, my local Husky dealer has a 2012 TXC310 and a 2013 TXC250R for the same exact price ($4,800). So what is the better choice here? Are aftermarket items such as skid plates and radiator guards easier to get for one year or bike than the other? Any opinions are greatly appreciated, and sorry to ask a common question, but the people on Thumpertalk can be quite inpatient and mean to a new and naive person like myself.

About me and my riding. I live in Minnesota, would be doing mostly trail riding though hope to start racing enduro/ hare scrambles. The terrain is mostly rolling hills, but can get rather tight and rocky. I am 6'3" and 195 lbs, and have spent the last three years teaching myself to ride on a TTR-125LE (which I outgrew quickly but didn't want to rush into buying a larger bike until I was ready). So I am guessing I am a solid C class rider.

    Thanks again.

Welcome also and that is quite a pair of bikes at a very good price ...

Not sure on the power differences between 012 and 013 models ... The TXC (cross country) is a 310 ...Meaning it has a 6 speed tranny box ...Very compelling... The TC is much more a pure 5 speed, MX type racer bike ...I've got a 010 TC250 and its a good bike for the woods and track but a 6speed always is what I like best ... Either bike will perform well ...

There might be some EFI differences between the bikes and that might be worth looking into ...Keihn is what you are looking for and the TC models are Keihn... Not sure on that TXC ...

And both these bikes are well beyond that 125 you are riding now ...

I would lean towards the 2013 TXC250 because of the Keihin FI. Hard choice tho.. when comparing to a 310.

I really appreciate all of the advice, and for welcoming a newcomer with yet another "which bike should I buy" question.

After more research and taking in everyone's advice I realized that the 2013 would be the far better route to go, especially given it's price in relation to a 2012 model.

However my dealer is now currently out of any 2013 models, and after being talked into the advantages of the 2013 over the 2012, I decided to hold off on buying. It is hard to justify settling for a 2012 when the 2013 has the better FI and is the same price. So I am waiting to see if the 2012 models continue to go unsold, and may reconsider if the dealer is willing to go even lower on the price.

I do thank you for your help and input.
