Hey everyone. I just bought a 2012 Wr300 and was wondering if anyone knows who makes an aftermarket kickstart for this bike(a longer one). I know the bike is new but I can't start it without standing on something with my left leg. Any suggestions??

Don't know of anyone making one.

    This might help though:

If you switch your base gasket to the thickest one, .08. It drops your compression slightly and you might be able to move your kicker back one tooth. I did it on my 250 and works great. Actually, one of the Hall's guys gave me that trick. Works good for one kick dead engine starts.

I feel that the 2012 is harder to kick around than the 2010 i had before. I guess it's the Ducati ignition. I sit down and start mine, no problem.

Thanks for the info!! I"ll try moving the kicker back one and see if it helps. If no luck I might just make one since I have a machine shop. Any good sites for parts for these bikes? First time Husqvarana owner!!

I have a 2011 WR 300 try starting it like a 4 stroke, get in to TOp dead centre. Mine starts real ez, I find it easier to sit on the seat. Hope that helps .......I found it awkward at first but don't really give it a thought now. Hopefully you get it sorted. Awesum bikes they go hard easily keep up with my mates big bore 4 strokes and blow they away through the tight stuff!!

Oz wr's come standard with head light, indicators, horn, mirrors & tail/brake light(ADR-fully road registered). id assume the wiring loom is the same & connections ready to plug in? id check mine but its a my10 & kokusan ignition not ducati so wiring may be different

Lean forward and aim your kick towards the axle, make sure it's jetted right and its a one kicker.

As old mate said oz ones come registered I'll look when I get a chance, the 2011 has the Ducati ignition so should be similar....

Just called Husqvarna and they said it doesn't have plugs for the lights. This may become a nightmare to get these to work!!!

Put it on the side stand and kick start it standing up, been doing this technique for years, ensure you prep the piston to just past top dead centre.

Two things happen when I try this. First, I start to ruin my side stand from putting weight on it. Second, I usually manage to tip over towards the kickstarter side of the bike.:(

The sidestand on my wr250 is made of steel as is the bracket if you have fitted a alloy one then that will not help. The lean angle on your side stand is incorrect or the sag on your shock is to weak which lowers the whole bike making it tip.

If you can, make a longer one and get back and tell us how it works:=)! A better leverage wouldn't hurt. you would have a market here for it;=)!

wonder if the wr360 kicker is any longer or would fit, perhaps a auto decomp head could be made by somebody.

I also think jetting is the key, I got mine sorted out then I could just give it a stab while sitting and it fires straight up.
