Are you going? I really wanted to head out. It's B-Day weekend for ole' T-Mec - a spry 25yo (HA!!). Was told I "could do whatever I want". But, when a Mexicana says that......well, you know. :D

I just had to regretfully inform my mentor and hero Ajax that I could not make this event. My daughter and grand kid just arrived, my TXC is in maintenance cycle my TE is retired and in tune up for sale priority. and I am not prepared logistically to get up there for the Kurt ride and Nat H&H. My priority is to family and the Tecate HS coming soon.

I know John normally sets up and sweeps for this event, is he far enough ahead that he won't be caught? He needs another #1 Plate!

..... I'm getting up 0-dark thirty sun morn and driving up, signing up, and racing.
PS Ajax can I ride your WR300? I dont have a bike to race at the moment.
My Resume'----- I NEED A RIDE, I am easily adaptable to any bike and know how to get machines to the finish.

Johns bike is Siiick, very smooth, super well suspended goes really fast, goes very slow and climbs like goat!! although I think I may have failed to beat his rival. I think I was 4th or as far back as 7th awaiting mototally result.....now Im more leaning towards a 300 2T after riding/racing Johns WR300

6th place... I felt really good, John had me as high as 4th for L1 and 2, I had a couple of estart moments on L3.....but I see I was 5th in time for L1 and 2 6th for L3 that I guess cost me. Not happy to not say mission accomplished for John...But guess what read the results John Ajax Kearney wins the 50A Nat H&H championship by 1 point !!! and he aint even 50 anymore!!!

PS It rained in the dez...zero dust great traction. perfect trail to follow

cut and paste report from an email to my crew,

That bike really surprised me because that Husky 300 is freakin 15 years old with no real tech updates. It’s a standard tube chassis like an older YZ or CR or basically a Cagiva MX (Chiodi) bike . But with the long term engine evolution has for sure helped, that thing is super smooth loaded with torque but also rips when on the pipe.
For that dez race it worked super good it feels kinda old school husky long and it railed berms well. And it was great in the rocks and in the sand washes as well, I was passing guys off the single track line in the hard cross grain sharp rocky stuff, the thing just went straight and straightened itself out when it swapped. Climbing those ugly D37 climbs was super easy with some slipping of the clutch and low revs. I stalled a few times with the old school cable clutch until I spun the star on the fly adjuster to get the release out further, I was 2 fingering the thing and it was grabby when I pulled it into my other fingers. The suspension is the same thing that Glenn Kearney was using in GNCC a few years back, that was really the key to this bike, Full on factory level Ohlins stuff TTX gold forks and the dual adjuster shock. The rear spring was too light for my weight and it hit more than a few time hard, but the valve was amazing. You really get what you pay for with that set up. I really like 2T on the ugly downhills, they just don’t load the front nearly as much, even when we do the clutch slip braking technique on the 4T it still transfers that extra engine weight onto the front. Fast guys just throttle down those hills (all the big pro 4T guys). Estart on 2T is now even more evident for me for time savings, for one example I had just worked my arse off in some gnarley rocks and passed like 3 guys, I got near the end of the section and missed the ribbon turned and stalled and sat there trying to get a relight while all those same guys repassed me....
They had some super ugly (niiice) step down wash sections with spotters helpers, I didn’t use anyone for help, but with loads of folks watching one section I did spode out and get my front wheel caught up with my finger stuck on the front brake as I was hanging over the front, no fall but I did good wrestling match to get myself back into ride position, people were snapping fotos....maybe I can find one. Beau videod and Mark Kariya was out on the course as well. It was an epic dez race very very best dez conditions, wet ground zero dust, minimal whoops, lots of D37 sharp rocks, partly cloudy, 70s at the warmest. A very good day, 6th 50A out of 21 starters on a bike I never ridden before, Im ok with that. John won his 50A championship by 1 point and Steve G got the 40B Nat championship. Only injury I heard was P Krause hurting his ankle maybe cracked. The Pros battled and swapped positions head to head all 4 guys up front. Jake A 911 Kaw and the 3 Betas of Nick B, Justin M and Axel P with Skyler P5 on his Kato. National H&H Title goes to Kurt. Thank you AJAX for the GNCC Factory Husky Ride

See y all at Tecate HS!!!

15 years old tech is being conservative......

    http://www.moto-tally.com/nhha/results.aspx?EY=2013&EID=10&SC=O1&SV=CT

I just looked at the final results and was happy, I see the fastest first 3 SSen A guys were very close 33,34,36 OA and I was at the tail end of the second tier 4 SSen A guys in a close group 47,49,me 53oa with 54oa right behind me. Thats fair and good matched racing to me as a fan!!
PS I was the First Husqvarna OA woooooo hooo.......

Hey Rob What people need to understand is. You came over to my pit sat on the bike for the first time ever. Then rode it for 5 min asked me to adjust the rear brake lever and then you went to the start line.
Also Rob has just moved up to the A class and there were 21 super fast experts on the line. At the first road crossing at about mile 6 Rob was in 4th. Rob then stayed in 4 th most of the day only at the end did he make a few mistakes and finished 6th.This is at the end of 100 miles of National Hare and Hound Southern Calif Desert
I want to personally thank Rob and all the other 20 guys who came and raced the Mag A class with Mike m
and then Dave w getting 1st and 2nd which then clinched the AMA National # 1 plate for me.Long list of reasons and rules would not let me race my own clubs event. But I will get that figured out by next year and if needed I will race the 100s National
Now for next year the first National is the last weeken in Jan followed the next weeken by King of the Moto then the next weeken is Rd 2 of the Nationals So a few weeks off and then we start all over again
I can asure you one thing I will not be the only Husky out there Stay tuned for the 2014 Husky photo shoot with official press release on the new Husky team riders. No I am not one of them I just tag along for the fun
